change of plans..need advice

Whatever the load times are I don't think it will be too bad. I think the pre alpha build had around 30 second load times and that was with no optimization.

I recently resumed playing New Vegas and there the load screen I find tortuous. Not so much how long they take, but how frequent they are when on the strip.

Compared to that I don't expect Skyrim to be too bad.

Oh boy...

And people say mods are the biggest reason to get it for PC. I guess I was wrong /sarcasm

Anyways, don't fool around with your credit. It can only come back to bite you in the end when you want to buy a car or house or get a loan for anything. A $700 computer pre-built might not be able to play skyrim as well as a computer you build yourself. There are barebone computers on many websites where you just add an OS and a video card and you are pretty much set, all for 5-600 dollars.

But if you don't have the money, racking up more debt is a foolish thing to do. If you must buy the game get it for whatever system you already have.

For some people it's great but for me and a few friends of mine it's not. It's fun at first but the game changes completely after several mods and I find myself not enjoying the game as much after a while.

If you have the cash to burn, and the load screens bother you that much, by
all means go for a new PC. I wouldn't recommend though to get in debt over
it. Not that I have not done similar crazy thing myself in the past but...LOL...

How much the actual core game play changes with mods, is up to you. That's
one of the great things about them. You can tailor your gaming experience the
way YOU want it. Just a few graphic tweaks for more bling? Some
more weapons and armors because that is what you like the most? Or a huge
complete overhaul because you feel the vanilla game is severely lacking in many
departments. Or create the cutest little nomnomnom Elf girls from your dreams
*cough-cough*, it's all up to you. How much, how little, and what...it's a Win-Win!
