Where did that good rep. with the Pow-gang come from?

Ok I checked my rep and noticed that Powder Gangers rated me "merciful thug".
I have been vilified for ages, I DID free two gangers from the Legion but that was ages ago...
What can I have done/killed? I am nice towards NCR....
I have a strange feeling I have asked this long ago... hm...
Anyone who knows off a nice rep-list somewhere?
