Is Fallout to easy?

Post » Tue Sep 20, 2011 9:48 am

I found F:NV to be very easy after I reached level 5. Even on the hardest setting the only hard kills are Deathclaws because they can take so much damage; pretty much everything else goes down with one head shot, and having a companion along makes it a walk. And it's just not combat. If I wasn't such a horder of at least one of every type of armor, weapon, and all the ammo I can find I'd be buried in caps.

Yes, you are a tough guy.

Personally I find a lot of challenge in this game as I've not played many first person shooters in my time. I'm a horrible shot in games, even if I'm pretty good with RL guns..

I agree that it's too easy on the hardest difficulty setting. However the game does become way more challanging if u try http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1231177-the-dead-is-dead-thread-7/!

It does tend to be a bit on the easy side. That's why I have it modded almost beyond recognition. A few of the mods go towards making more difficult by doing anything from tweaking damage and armor, adding more enemy spawns, new types of enemies, etc.

Yes it does. But realistically, If something takes a 308 to the brain...it should be dead.

I agree; but when you add how stupid the AI is it's just too easy.

My next round is going to be way moded, but I want'd to play vannila first.

if you mod it, allow the the enemies 1-2 hit kills against you. That would add a little difficulty for you.

I find the game exactly the level of play it should be.

Just right. Its not easy unless you have it on the easy setting.

I kinda like how they set it up.

If enemies continue to be hard until the end of time, that's frustrating, because you can never travel anywhere without a bullet sponge slowing your travels. FO3 and Oblivion were annoying because there was a tought fight every 3 feet.
If enemies are too easy, it's boring. New Vegas is bad about this at times, but Cazadors and Deathclaws provide a nice challenge up until the mid 20s.
Then where are the tough fights? The DLCs. This is smart because the people who buy the DLCs are probably the more dedicated and experienced players, so they'll appreciate the damage spike. Then, before it hits the problem of being TOO much (bullet sponges every 3 feet), the DLC is over. You're welcome to come back at any time if you like the tough fights, and all otherwise you can go back to the easy-to-kill enemies who won't hinder your travels.

In short, though I think NV is a little on the easy side, I think it's smart that all the stronger enemies were placed out of your way, and quest-wise they come in short spurts, so that they won't hinder basic travel. You find them only if you're looking for them.

What does increasing difficulty do? (Make it harder, duh!)

Increase enemy AI?
Just increase enemy numbers and hitpoints?
What?

I don't like how my character on first playthrough is turning out, so I'm starting over with a new built and am considering playing on hard. Not hardcoe, though. I don't think I'm ready for that.
