NPC follower love

So I've returned to the game of my paladin, which some of you know as Dyan phor a'Cauz. It's been several months since I've picked up her game, but sometime during those other months, i leanred something valuable about followers. I learned this new way of having NPC followers along while playing another character, my wizard character.

Beujock the Grey Wizard has no true need for followers, he's way too powerful as he is. But just for amusemant, he had some followers at some point, and during this time he got in the habit of

> telling the follower to "wait" in the first room of a dungeon.

> This keeps them from rushing off into battle, ruining strategy, and dying over and over again (assuming the NPCs are essential).

This simple rule really makes a lot of difference!

> Now Dyan has the freedom to explore the dungeon at her leisure. If she gets into a situation where she's overwhelmed during a fight, she can simply run back to where the brothers are! They will now join in the fight, while Dyan heals or forms a new strategy.

> She can even play the role of "healer" while the brothers take over the fight. She'd be healing the Jemane brothers, that is, while they fight. AWESOME rolplay material here!

So Dyan is at the point where she's found Weatherleah, killed off the ogres there, and is supposed to be escorting the Jemane brothers back. Instead, she's having them follow her. "Let them find their way back to their home if hey want to go back so bad. Why do I have to hold THEIR hand! They're grown boys!" she rationalizes. "They can leave me at any time!"

Day after day, the Jemanes moan "Hey there! you have but to lead us to Weatherleah". But to be honest, I'm really finding it fun (and useful) to have them tag along with Dyan.

These guys are GREAT for killing off nuisance creatuers while travelling across countryside. Dyan no longer has to deal with "fight or flight" responses while trying to enjoy some nice Cyrodiilic scenery. She truely is becoming some sort of boss, with these guys along with her.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooo...anyone else feeling (or have felt) the NPC follower love?
