Locked Helmets...?

Post » Tue Sep 20, 2011 5:45 am

Ok so right down to the point:
I watched some sneaky camera footage of the character creation at the PAX demo (I cannot provide a link, obviously), that I'm sure some of you have seen. The player took about 5 minutes to create their Khajiit character and immediately when they were done and it moved into first person mode, there was a glitch (big surprise) and you could see the outlines of the Dovahkiin helmet. Sooooo right when they spawned, instant helmet? Hm.

It's either for demo purposes or Bethesda is forcing us to be Dovahkiin wether we like it or not!

I've seen gameplay in the trailers without him having the helmet, but they were all when he had a hood on. So maybe when we don't have hood on we HAVE to wear the helmet?

This would be stupid in my eyes, but, that's me.

I'm fairly certain that was just for demo purposes, so that they had a starting set of armor.

If I had to guess, that was just for the demo.

So people didn't have to waste time equipping items. Plus, they cut out the intro from the demo when you would have gotten the starting stuff (or found it atleast, you'd think)

You start as a prisoner with prisoner clothes. No. The Dovahkiin helm is not part of prison wear.

a.) Helmet isn't locked, and people would be up in arms if that were the case (but it isn't, and never will be)

b.) We're Dovakihn regardless of the helmet

c.) As others have said, it was for demo purposes: players started several minutes after the actual start of the game and were given starting items. The helmet was one of them, in all likelihood.

Are people really this desperate?

Obviously the game isn't going to force us to wear any armor and this topic is simply a reply-grab.

I would not buy Skyrim, or atleast not at the release. Maybe once someone creates a mod removing it.

I've seen a couple threads like this already. It surprises me that people believe that helmet is permanent, what sort of defeat the purpose of character creation if all you ever got to see was his eyes. Plus, like the poll says, this is The Elder Scrolls!

This.
The demo takes place "30 Minutes" after Char. Creation.
This is so that they don't give away the opening or any story details.
You'll notice everyone has the same Fire spell, Sword, Banded Iron Shield, Helmet, etc. in the reviews and videos.
They are dropped in with starter equipment to "get a feel for the game."
Hope that helps.
