[WIPz/RELz/REQz] [BORG].ESM

Post » Tue Sep 20, 2011 2:58 pm

OP be fleshed out and revised over time, then moved when there's a Skyrim mods forum.
[BORG].ESM @ TESNexus <--- Placeholder

Your mods might be assimilated (with permission, of course).

Note: Much of the plan here assumes Skyrim will work similarly to Oblivion and the Fallouts, as well as that there will be a script extender
and user made utilities. Every bit of this is subject to change save the assimilation of others' work without permission. That I will never do.

  • Author: The Collective
    • Menu, merging of constituent mods, and maintenance by: JustinOther
  • Description: Many mods merged together, made to work with each other while keeping constituent components optional. There will be an enormous options menu accessible at any time in game, allowing users to toggle and configure features, vanilla and mod added, to their liking.
  • Installation: Unpack .7z and place its contents in your Skyrim\Data directory. Enable [BORG].ESM with either the launcher or your preferred load order utility.
  • Use: Most, if not all features will be entirely optional and configurable from an in game menu, available by pressing and holding the 'O' key for script extender users or by equipping the [BORG Menu Hotkey] item found in your inventory if you do not use the script extender. Provided there will be a script extender, it will be recommended but not mandatory, however some functionality and options will not available in its absence.
  • Bugs: N/A (yet)
  • Future: Remains to be seen, based on reception and willingness of others to contribute. It won't live up to its name with my work alone...

Tentative list of features/options I'm confident I'll be able to add myself:
  • FOV Options: On-the fly zooming in/out using configurable hotkeys (Up and down arrows by default)
  • 3'rd person perspective options: On-the fly moving of 3'rd person camera using configurable hotkeys that one can center or even place the camera on their left (Left and right arrows by default)
  • Enable/Disable 3'rd person finishers
  • Enable disable finishers entirely
  • Enable/disable forced 3'rd person perspective while riding a horse
  • Enable/disable achievements (will possibly add fake achievements not tied to outside world/Steam)
  • If needed, enable/disable the shouting when player kills a dragon
  • If needed, enable/disable shouts while sneaking. (whispered shout variants If Player.IsSneaking)
  • Enable/disable/configure auto health regeneration
  • Leveling options galore
  • Protected companion options. Whether or not Beth makes companions protected, some will want it the other way around.

Tentative list of features and options by others which would work well merged in: Join the Collective?

Note: If for whatever reason, one later decides they would like their contribution removed, I'm not going to split hairs over it. The scope of this is pretty much limitless. With enough options and features, it could be a monster. If it ends up just my stuff in it, on the other hand, I'll just change the name as it wouldn't fit the bill.

Oh! Feel free to request features and option. No guarantees they'll be feasible, but most everything is possible.

I think you might have trouble with disabling 3rd person using the horse
also it was confirmed that the shout after the dragon died will not be in the game

that would be a lot harder and maybe impossible if every race uses the same bone/animation system it probably wont work

Vsions said they were working on it at one point but ran out of time. So the code must still be there.

4 people have never used mods ...

This is a great idea.

Reduce load order / conflict issues.

And so far looks like a great set of options to make Skyrim more PC-friendly.

High FoV is a necessity on a PC game, console games feel like you are looking through a toilet paper roll, which is fine on a TV, but awful on a monitor.

This is very doable as well, mods like this exist for Morrow/Obliv.

Neutral until we see how the over hauled engine and plugins work.

the devs would be able to do it because they can manipulate the code but legally modders cant, so it really depends on what they left us, more than likely if they scrapped the project then we wont be able to do it, but that is just my 2 cents I may be wrong

Some things like protected companions, no matter what Beth does, I can already foresee people wanting the other way around.

I'm crafty like that. Here's hoping that DOVAHKIIIIIN! shout was indeed just for the demo. If not, it'll be made optional...

lol
Might I ask, then, that you either delete your vote or at least vote neutrally? Please?

Modeling is not my forte, however if the aforementioned Collective eventually retains the services of one qualified, and it could be made optional, why not? Objectively though, swapping the molds for all the playable races would be more in the scope of a standalone plugin.

If beast legs can't be done, then beast feet. That at least can use the same skeleton.

Voted for great idea.

Every [censored] modder need the community support, no matter if you like or not, they're working to make mods for the players, many times with no profit goal, so there's no [censored] reason to say "its a horrible idea", if you don't like it, just don't use.

it can be a horrible idea if the mod is too big, because then it never gets finished, I should know it has happened to me at least 20 times

just deleted my vote... didnt know that was possible otherwise i would have done it right away

I was the first person who voted... and felt quite guilty about it cause im completely ignorant when it comes to mods

The only thing i know about them... is that im envious of them

Modded TES games on a nice PC seems amazing... I purposely refrain from finding out too much about them however... Ignorance is Bliss---- an amazingly accurate adage... no matter how over-used it is

That's feasible as beast feet boots could be made which take no armor slots. The trick would be making them unequip when the player put real shoes or boots on. FLSTs, provided they're in, will help for the non-script extender crowd. Again though, I can't personally model my way out of a paper sack. Here's hoping someone with modeling skills joins the Collective! Their skills would be infinitely helpful.

@Druidic Dunmer: Thanks much :)
