As far as I know there hasn't been any details released, I'm pretty sure I've read up on everything (yeah I'm a little hooked on Skyrim stuff right now).
Maybe it'll please the people who don't like the 3D map? I'm sure it'll look great whatever they design it like.

Probably similar to oblivions if I had to guess.

I hope the local maps are better than the Oblivion ones, I didn't like those.

There's definately room for improvement over Oblivion's, I think they'll surprise us (surely they wouldn't go to the effort to make the main map look so detailed and unique and then keep the local map the same as Oblivion).
