Do NPC's have perks as well?

Post » Wed Sep 21, 2011 5:57 am

I am actually really suprised no one has asked this yet, but do NPCs also take advantage of preassigned perks?

Especially with perks drastically increasing 1 handed and 2 handed damage, deflect arrows, shield bash, etc. It would really be a shame (and make the game to easy) if NPCs did not also have access to these perks. I want to be shield bashed, my arrows deflected, and even see a high level guy with a shield absorb some of my elemental attacks. I realy hope NPCs arent all generic fighters who do base damage with their weapons.

Anyone have any knowledge about this?

That's actually a great question. Id be interested in finding out more too. Id imagine bandits or "generic" baddies may just do static damage and have no perks as they're "cookie cutter" so to speak. But named NPCS, storyline or boss characters id bet have perks selected/coded in.

Most certainly every dual-spell wielding (same spell) enemy would need the perk to be able to do so.

I hope NPC's will have perks too, it's really bad when you have something no one else seems to have for some reason (Obviously an exception being Dragon Shouts come Skyrim). If I can block elemental damage through a let's just say shield perk there should be NPC's who can do the same, if I can make a roll due to a perk then other NPC's should be able to too (being the only one capable of making a tumble in Oblivion felt really weird) and in the same way I hope anything that can be done to NPC's can be done to the player, if a dragon can pick up an NPC and drop it from the sky it should be able to do that to me too (I know a lot of people will disagree but I personally think it would be cool, even if it's probably not for the best, but implemented correctly it would be cool).

I know in BioWare's Dragon Age Origins the NPC's did use skills against you all the time. As important as Perks are in this game I would certainly hope the NPC's have them or fights would be very easy without giving the NPC's buffs to HP or Damage, which is just a lame way to even them out.
