Can we sleep in the bed of a murdered npc ?

Post » Wed Sep 21, 2011 1:33 pm

One thing that kind of annoyed me Oblivion (possibly in Morrowind as well, I can't recall), is that you were unable to sleep in the bed/cot/sleeping bag/whatever of a murdered npc, either in a house or out in the wilderness. If you tried you would get the "You cannot sleep in someone elses bed" dialogue box popping up. If the npc is dead, his bed/sleeping bag/cot should be open season!

I don't suppose this has been brought up in any official Skyrim discussions ?

Todd has stated that it is one of the things they are going to put into the game, at the constant nagging of one particular reporter.

oh wow, that's quite the fetish...

They took it out in oblivion because it was really easy to just get a house by committing murder in Morrowind, I don't think they'll undo it, keep it so you have to earn your house.

*edit* guess they did change it, still a house earned will be more rewarding then a house stolen. think it would be cool is Radiant story would have people that the person know come around and then if anyone saw you, they would go fetch the guards for murder and squatting.

I hope there's none of that you cannot sleep in owned beds. If someone finds you sleeping in their bed, or knows you're sleeping in someone else's bed, then you can get in trouble.

edit

The house itself is somewhat pointless, because we don't get respawn-free containers. I'm thinking you'll have to murder a whole family to earn the house, because the ownership will transfer to a relative.

Or maybe, NPCs should find you suspicious for going into a murdered person's house.

Agreed, I'd like to see trespassing penalties, I'm pretty sure my neighbor would be real upset if I walked unannounced and started using their furniture.

I read the title and thought it said "Can I sleep in a bed with a murdered NPC".

I was like

But I'm pretty sure you can sleep in somebody's bed if they're dead.

you can't decorate a house that isn't earned through a deed. Though what is your definition of "earning" a house? I say if you murder someone to get it that is a job well done (just kidding of course).

Listen, if they didn't want to die and have their beds slept in by a creepy dunmer, then they shouldn't have bought the house I was eyeing.

Todd has stated that it is one of the things they are going to put into the game, at the constant nagging of one particular reporter.
That's awesome :D. My psychotic dunmer will be pleased.

If Bethesda marketing hyped that "feature", they'd get all sorts of new sales lol

LOL, there was this one episode on Criminal Minds where the FBI hunts down this serial killer who kills people 'cause he wants a bed to sleep in.

He probably got frustrated with Oblivion.
