My only real complaint so far but this is HUGE

Post » Wed Sep 21, 2011 7:25 pm

Ok I can't post a link to this, but if you happen to see the Tokyo footage Alvar has this giant SIMS like stupid cartoon looking arrow icon above his head! You can see it at a great distance too. It completely destroys immersion and there is no need for it, the quest arrow is more than sufficient. I will mod it out on the first day with an alpha channel if I have to, but wow, it really looks lame. Go back to an Oblivion style icon that is on the center of the guys body when you get close to him, and lose this giant SIMS icon thing, it looks cartoonish and crazy stupid.

Out of all the complaints I've seen I can't believe nobody brought this up yet. It's Alvar that has the icon the size of a fist over his head. You can see it on part 2 of the Tokyo footage at 1:15 into the video.

I hope I can turn it off, otherwise I'll mod it out of the game, but really? Such a great looking game but there is no need to double hand hold the player to the quest target with an ugly cartoon graphic icon visible from a 200 yards away. Sorry to complain, this and locational damage are my only gripes, I stick up for the game constantly, but this really annoyed me when I saw it because it makes the game world itself look cartoonish.

It's not giant...and it only appears when you get close to them. I'm pretty sure it's also removable.

I'm not too concerned, but if you can toggle it off I probably will.

As it was probably already stated by the time this post gets in; those can be turned off AND they are not that hard to ignore.

100% removable. You can remove quest markers, and you also have the ability to remove the entire HUD by toggling the opacity settings.

Pete's twitter. You can also have multiple markers if you want, you can have no markers, you can turn off the compass, you can turn off the marker above the NPC's head, you can turn off the HUD.

This is proof that Bethesda listens if you ask me.

Confirmed in Petes Twitter feed along with tons of other stuff. (Picked flowers are removed from the game world, can't change your appearance after character generation, multiple voice actors per race etc.) Check out my post of his http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1231662-new-answers-from-pete-hines-twitter/ confirmations.
