If Bethesda delayed the PC version...

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 1:16 am

If Bethesda delayed the PC version, to bring it up to current hardware level ie full quad core support, full DX11 features, SLi and Xfire support out of the box etc... would you mind?

Personally I wouldn't be bothered much, if it makes the game better for your platform then I say go for it.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't mind, as long as it's not like super long. Although with all the people on the forum talking about the PS3/360 version it be kind of hard.

Then I'd ask: Why not patch it in? Seriously, they'd only lose money that way, by people migrating to consoles to play earlier.

Well, i think i would mind :P Considering i have a Dual core and a single dx10.1 compatible video card.. so i wont be able to reap the benefits anytime soon.. But for all those who don't mind: Aww heck.. what's waiting a few weeks/month longer after waiting the previous months? (i guess an eternity for some :P)

Edit: typo's :)

11/11/11 is the set release and pete said that they're happy where they are with the game considering it's only 1 month and 20 days away. PC will have patches, possibly in the first week of it's release.

I would spray my brains all over the wall if I had to wait longer than 11/11/11.

I'd like it a lot. It would make the game look not so outdated already.

However, we all know something like that would never, ever happen.

I would GLADLY wait a while for a more refined version of the game. But they can always patch it to do that... not that I expect them to.

Id' be quite happy if it was a proper PC port. I don't mind waiting, I have other things to do after all.

As someone who just built a new gaming PC, so that I can run stuff at higher quality?

Yeah, I'd be annoyed by that. I'm fine with how Skyrim is shaping up.

I'd wait a month for DX 11, tessellation and that kinda thing, yeah. No more than that though.

I don't think full DX11 features are needed, SLI/CF optimization usually comes about quick enough through driver optimization and if Bethesda can code for the 360's tri-core and the PS3's multiple cells, but can't plan to manage utilizing more than two cores of a PC's CPU... then that's just epic fail in 2011.

Would like to see a 64bit .exe, which is something that can be offered after as well.

I'd accept a delay for including Spell Making though.

Full blown DX11 support (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uavLefzDuQ is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ABeq7PEdRc&feature=fvwrel) could be patched in later, as could a 64 bit .exe, but if waiting for the game were the only way to get tessellation, I'd gladly wait. Hopefully, Skyrim eventually gets all of the above with patches and we'll not have to wait.

Make it a patch. I'd rather wait to get more content for the game.

I seriously doubt there will be even a 64bit exe or any real graphics update coming from bethesda. They want (and are payed by M$) to deliver a game that looks just about the same on console as on PC. The "experience" has to be the same you know.
