What console should I buy Skyrim on?

Post » Wed Sep 21, 2011 8:07 pm

Hello everyone.
Firstly, this topic isn't a "this console is better than that one" sort of topic so please do not start any of that here.
Secondly, I have both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 so I just need your help to decide.

I usually buy most games on PS3, and only tend to buy exclusive titles for Xbox 360. I will definately be buying all the dlc's for Skyrim when they come out, and as Xbox are getting the dlc's a month early that definately sways my decision a little.

I'll be pre-ordering the game from Amazon in a few days time, please let me know which you think is a better choice.
Thanks :D

Xbox360 of course! It's so cozy. I could get in on PC but I would be too busy modding the game rather than actually playing it. I just find the Xbox chill, and it's a tradition since I bought Oblivion on Xbox too :tes: Also Beth loves Xbox, so you might take that into consideration  jk..

Since Bethesda seem very 360-enthusiastic the 360-version might be better. But since you already have both consoles, I'd suggest getting it for PS3 since it's quieter. It has better hardware too, but that isn't always the winning card. Games are often optimized for 360 and have better graphics on it despite the difference in hardware.

From these 2,I'd say make your decision based on wich controller you like most.
There will minimum differencies if any at all between the 2 versions,so just buy the one for the console that you like its controller most.

If you have a choice between the two I would go with 360 but it's completely up to you. The 360 will get DLC 1st but with a game like Skyrim that doesn't matter, the 360 also is more stable but will probably have longer load times unless you install it to the harddrive. The PS3 will look better and might have better load times but we still don't have any idea if Beth fixed the memory issues that PS3 users had with Fallout 3.

360. Bethesda is developing primarily for 360. DLC before anyone else. I prefer the 360 controller, achievements etc.

I wonder how long it's gonna take for the PC crowd to come in and preach the good word of the PC platform, even though the OP didn't even mention it as an option.

beth is very pro-xbox, so if you have to hoose a console, go xbox (as much as that pains me to say so, and it hurts ALOT). oblivion on ps3 only got the two expansions, and that was it.

Go with whichever system you prefer. The game itself will be practically identical on both systems and early DLC doesn't really matter with a game like SR.

PC.

I am an xbox fan, but I changed my preorder to PC when I found out that the Xbox controller is supported on the PC version, so now I can add mods if necessary but still play it like xbox...

Wow, seems like Xbox is winning hands down at this point, haha. Thanks for all the responses as well :)

I'm more of a ps3 gamer (and prefer the controller) but as most of you have said the Xbox version will most likely be more stable as it is built for it, and Bethesda's more than cosy relationship with Microsoft means that Skyrim will basically be optimised for the Xbox and it gets the dlc's earlier than the ps3.
