Elder Scrolls + Dragons

Honestly, when I saw the first announcement trailer and realized that Dragons were going to be in the game, I was shocked. I really didn't realize they would even include Dragons in the series. I wasn't worried about how they were going to effect gameplay or whether or not they should be in, I was simply in awe.

My initial reaction to the Skyrim teaser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4b4dndo1J0

But now I'm just straight up excited and I can't wait to see what Bethesda has in store for us in Skyrim! An actual open world game with FREE ROAMING Dragons sounds absolutely amazing! I really hope I encounter one early on when I'm weak so I can be all "OMG RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!"

Is there really anyone still against Bethesda's decision to include Dragons in TES?

EDIT: I've also booted up my old copy of Morrowind just to get ready for Skyrim! Really brings back memories.

Well, dragons have been a part of the lore a very long time so I don't think it's that wired. It's just the first main-game advlt dragons have been in the game-world. Daggerfall even had dragonlings.

At first I thought it was lame. After seeing some gameplay videos of the dragons in action though, I think it's pretty rad.

when i fist heard dragons were in the game i was ecstatic but then i found out they were bad and i was going to have to kill them which made me very sad/mad because they are awesome creatures and smart enough to side with the good guys to fight evil but that's not how they wrote it. the only time ill kill a dragon is for a quest or possibly the best armor in the game and if i do i will have a funeral because im an argonian so i feel a deep connection with all things scaly especially ones as smart as people

I totally went from 6 to midnight.

Both videos posted basically cover it. I watched the trailer at least 20 times with the volume at max.

I was excited right from the start. Dragons have always been one of my favorite things to tackle. I remember playing D&D gold box games on the PC back in the day (late 80's early 90's) and dragons were a huge part of it. Fearsome, terror inducing beasts that were absolutely deadly in combat. There were some good ones (copper, silver, gold, bronze) and some bad ones (green, black, blue, and the monstrous red!). I've loved them in every game since. I wish there were a couple friendly ones (who knows, maybe there are??), but I don't mind killing dragons as a rule, mostly because they are so epic. I'm glad they are going to be treated as "boss" monsters - I think that's fitting.

I thought, and still feel, they are the new equivilent of Oblivion gates. Something probably to be got rid of before I can enjoy the game properly.

My immediate thought was "best get a new pair of boxers". After that, it occurred to be that by replacing Oblivion gates (lame) with DRAGONS (coolest things ever) this would be my perfect game. Dragons were literally the best addition to the game that I could ever have hoped for.

Based on some of the stuff in the OXM article I got the impression they were anything but cannon fodder. I'm disregarding how quick they were dealt with in the demo videos as that was done in Todd-Mode and there were some cuts in the video itself.
