How to get a specific duster

Post » Fri Sep 23, 2011 1:38 pm

I know that the Courier Duster you get has a special insignia on the back. Since I'm Independent and I know that since NCR and Legion have "Wild Child" reputation and I'm idolized by the Strip which determines Mr. House allegiance, I was wondering if anyone has gotten the Independent version of the Duster and how low I have to get my Strip reputation to get the Independent version.

Spoiler
I've seen playthroughs where people reached the end of Yes Man's quest and some people even did all the other missions yet they got the Mr. House version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated on this topic.

P.S. If a mod could move this thread, I'd appreciate it.

Which one is the independent version? The one with the 21? I got that one. Funny thing is . . . my character hasn't made any allegiances.

It's more so funny because I hadn't planned on making any allegiances and the DLC assumed I was going to fight in the end. But regardless, nothing I said spoils anything. From my post alone, people would know there is something to do with 21, independence, and allegiances. Not a spoiler.

The fact that you get the custom duster in the first place is a quest item from the end game DLC, thus a spoiler. Which is why the thread is now in the spoilers subforum.

But the circumstances surrounding it aren't very clear at all and wouldn't very much spoil well . . . anything. And my point was that my post alone didn't give anything away, especially when compared to what the main post said. This is a dumb argument regardless, so I'm done.

Seeing as this is a spoiler thread now, I've heard that the Independent Duster is based on your BoS and FotA reputation. Since I'm Liked and Idolized by BoS and FotA respectively, I wonder if I could get my Strip reputation from Idolized to "Good Natured Rascal," would that be enough to get Independent?

I'm really not sure if it's based on rep or progression. BOS and FOTA seem weird for determining the Indie path. How far are you on the independent path?

Apparently its bound near impossible to get the independant duster, you would think it would be based on which quest line you were following instead of what your rep is.

Maybe to get independant people will have to complete LR before entering the strip, avoid any ncr/legion quests. Then I assume becuase everything is neutral you will get it. Also want to see the lowest level people do LR at.

I'm right at the end with Yes Man telling me to go to Hoover Dam. As for why the BOS and FOTA determine indie, I guess it's because those factions are the ones who seek to help the wasteland itself as the FOTA want to help others with medicine while the BOS try to help humanity by getting rid of dangerous tech. Not perfect but it makes sense.
