"One particularly potent shout speaks the true name of an actual dragon, and the beast is forced to come to your aid and fight beside you in battle."
- Issue 214, February 2011, page 58, Game Informer.

Before anyone asks, it is impossible for me to link to a print magazine. If anyone else still has copy as I do they can confirm it. They may have posted about it on their website as well, but I'm not about to read through all that coverage. ^_^

Yea, same info (well not word for word but close enough) is in this http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/01/20/skyrim-s-dragon-shouts.aspx?PostPageIndex=3 in GI Skyrim hub. Page 3, end of the third to last paragraph.
And while they’re cagey about the details, Bethesda says that one shout will let a player summon an actual dragon, calling him by name to fight.

Just google it if you're curious, I don't feel like searching for evidence to support well established information.

EDIT: And for Dragonborn's sake don't flame me if this was posted already because there was no other way to search the forum besides looking through 872 pages of threads!

Search bar.

We've known about this for awhile.

This is what i mean when i say myself in the head that half the features in skyrim are forgotten todd has mentioned this and it was in the very first magazibe. i'm just too lazy to try to correct the people who say that there have been more features taken out than put in. heck some people didn't even know about tavern brawls and street duels.

It was known already (from the first GI article back in January). And for some reason I think it will be our final main quest reward.

Ok, so I found the search function at the upper right corner of the screen. I'll use that next time, sheesh, what a cheery place.

I wonder if this dragon we summon will end up being our primary contact with the anti-Alduin dragons.

I wonder if you can summon it then kill it and take its soul. That'd be a very jerky thing to do.

The real question is, that since we call the dragon specifically by name....if we do that will the shout be worthless or replace the dragon with a new one?

Protonymic incantation has been done in Elder Scrolls before. That's how Dagon got burned at the end of Battlespire IIRC.

There are two things that the et'ada fear: the unlikely event that their foe has mustered enough power to overwhelm them.... and someone learning their protonymic.

I was going to say something much poorer than this. Thank you :D My point was that knowing the name of something gives you power over it in almost every piece of real "magical" historical lore...ever.

PLEASE don't let this deter you. You have to remember a lot of these people have been here for months (and years!), but the past six months especially talking about the same stuff over and over and over and...everyone's on edge. There's a lot of negativity, people are just losing their minds momentarily :D

Stay, we need fresh blood.

I didn't mean for that to sound that way...
