Fishing in Skyrim... Yay or Nay?

Post » Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:19 pm

Games like fable and wow are great games and allow you to go fishing for both food and treasure.

So my question is, would this be something you would aprove of in Skyrim or not?

We don't fish with rods, we "pluck" the fish out of the water.

So yes, it is confirmed, in a sense.

Ofcourse I would approve it. I mean why not? if there is water and if there is fish in it then why not catch them? and Salmon steak on the gameplay? where would that come from? Anyways, Fishing should be part of the game.

Fishing is confirmed.

Yeah but was interested to see if any one aproved of it.
Im interested to see if fishing allows you to collect treasure like in fable as swiming can be sooo long some times lol, but maybe thats just me, I dunno?

Don't care that much really. If it was out, it'd be fine. If it's inn, thats fine too. But i guess extra content is always good, so... yay

There's no "fishing" in Skyrim. We can catch fish with our hands like collecting an item, but we can't really go fishing.

It would be a nice, little feature that you could do when you're bored and wanna chill :) So, I'm a bit disappointed, but not much.

Fishing in most games svcks something terrible. WoW fishing was horrible. I don't even remember any fishing in Fable... unless it was in the 3rd one which I didn't play (fool me once, shame on you, fool me three times...not gonna happen Peter Molyneux).

I can really only think of one game with a good fishing mini-game OOT. I'm sure there are more, but generally it svcks.

Op, love your avatar by the way.

I would like real fishing, like using a net, a rod or a spear(haha). Not grabbing them. That is badass, but......

Anyways, liked the yay/nay thingy. Epic

yes, but I guess they found a "Nordic solution" by letting us pick fish from the water. (i.e. they were too lazy to make a fishing pole and fishing minigame...and I guess if it was a matter of priorities this should be low on the list anyways)

Correction. Fable: TLC is a great game. I've never played wow. c: but that's my opinion.
OT: Fishing with rods.

fable's swimming wasn't great at all.

No I was refuring to Fable 1's fishing because in that game it was mainly for finding treasure and worked really well, and the swiming in Oblivion I found to be too boring and it hardly rewarded you... I guess I just like games that make some things more simpler and rewarding for taking the time to take part in it.

As in Fable, if you see a wripple in a puddle/lake, you didnt have to investigate it, but curiosaty all ways got the better of me and 9x out of 10 instead of getting a fish I would get a new weapon or a peice of armour! Theirs no reason why they couldnt incorperate something like this into Skyrim as it doesnt necaserily have to be fishing with a rod to find hidden treasue in water, you could sift as well?

Not sure if we can fish with a fishing pole yet; hands are what I heard so far. With all of the other great things in the game I wouldn't be surprised if we could.

You know which game had freakin' awesome fishing? Zelda: Ocarina of time. They should have it similar to that. Man that would rule hard. I can't imagine catching fish with your hands would be very fun. I mean you see a fish just floating there swim over and...."You have succesfully harvested: Fish"

While I appreciate the option and more so when the survival mods come, I cant help but feel the resources would have been better put elsewhere

What does OP mean by "sifting"?

And yeah, I'd love fishing, as long as it feels like an activity and not a mini-game.

Mini-game fishing has only ever worked in Legend of Zelda, and it wouldn't fit TES.

I know there was fishing in the first Fable, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the second and third.
