Turning Akatosh Into Ash

Post » Fri Sep 23, 2011 9:59 pm

I'm assuming a Dovakhiin isn't able to stop a God from following his nature and reset the kalpa, so who do you think will help our beloved Dovakhiin with his quest? Daedric Princes? Other dragons? Other Gods perhaps? Discuss.

Lorkhan

EDIT:
"But when Trinimac and Auriel tried to destroy the Heart of Lorkhan it laughed at them. It said, 'This Heart is the heart of the world, for one was made to satisfy the other." So Auriel fastened the thing to an arrow and let it fly long into the sea, where no aspect of the new world may ever find it.'" — The Monomyth

this suggests Lorkhan might have a problem with Alduin trying to devour the world

Well, I don't know for sure, but the options could be:

1. Get a different god or daedra to help like Lorkhan, Dagon/whoever (lol Oblivion)
2. Rally the indifferent or otherwise separated dragons along with whatever factions you sided with
3. Turn into a god or dragon ourself, or be an incarnation of one (lol Morrowind)
4. Appeal to his better nature with our amazing speechcraft (lol)
5. Stop him before he even appears (lame)
6. Use some plot device item to kill/defeat him in 1 hit (lame)
7. Use some plot device to drastically weaken him to the point of being killable (meh)
8. We were really Alduin all along (lol wut)
9. Never do the main quest (Alduin who?)
10. (lol console commands)
11. (lol changing difficulty)
12. <1 hp> (lol modding him)

I want to be able to do it myself. Think Vampire Hunter D - he had blood from Dracula in this bloodline (Dovahkiin equivalent?) and was able to kill Mr. Bad Vampire guy. That's what I want, to raise to almost God-like status and ability in order to rid the world of the baddies.

Thank you for your input. My counterpart to yours :

1. Very Very Very Likely.
2. Might be. In the Eurogamer thread it was mentioned that in the beta that they were playing, there was only 1 dragon and it wasn't possible to reach him within the time limit (a developer said this to him). My guess is it's a hidden/undercover dragon trying to help the Dovakhiin.
3. Too overpowered and I agree with you, would be lame.
4. lol indeed.
5. It's the end of the world, this will be settled with war not diplomacy :P So unlikely.
6. Lame yes.
7. Actually Aedra are very much killable, since they gave up their immortality, unlike Daedra.
8. lmao
9. :obliviongate:
10. PWND
11. CHEATER!
12. Baby Alduin :D

I don't think Akatosh wants the world to end, so he could still help us against his own more destructive side.

Kyne. Shouldn't even need to explain, but I will anyway. Shor is dead, who better to take up the defense of Man than one of his Battle Wives, especially the one whose daughters taught Thu'um to mortals.

This goes along with re123's list (number 3 specifically)

What if the Dovakhiin is somehow (and unknowingly) part of the Septim bloodline. This would explain his/her abilities as a dragonborn and allow for a scenario in which upon finding a specific relic (similar to the Amulet of Kings) Dovakhiin is able to harness the power of Akatosh much like Martin did. Imagine the final battle in Oblivion, but instead of watching it you're actually doing the fighting. I think that would be pretty cool.
