I'm excited to play Skyrim on my PS3

Post » Sat Sep 24, 2011 12:18 am

I love Oblivion on my laptop, I've only just found out about the modding community and this year I've been playing Oblivion on and off. It's had it's frustrating moments (crashes, crashes and more [censored] crashes!) but the game really amazing with all the mods available.

Anyway, only discovering Oblivion on my laptop this year, I've been playing it on the Xbox 360 since I first got it in 2006, so I dunno why, but I just started a new game on the 360 and I just get this really pleasant almost nostalgic feeling that I just don't get on the PC version. I guess it's just the feeling of holding the controller in my hand (I know I could get one working on the laptop, but to be honest CBF with all the effort, it's painstaking and too much frustration and effort and I'm now used to the keyboard), but the atmosphere and music on the console "vanilla" Oblivion is just awesome.

So on topic: for this reason I'm really looking forward to having a game to really lose myself in, I haven't really been playing much of my Xbox or PS3 for a while so it will be nice to have this game to waste time in for the few months after November. I don't even care that I'm losing the modding ability because to be honest, so far I'm really impressed by the base game Bethesda seems to be offering and don't see any needs for mods right now and also modding is a lot of work and I've spent probably half my game time in Oblivion (80+ hours) on the PC on installing and sorting out my mods and then when it starts crashing on figuring out how to stop it, and I'm just kind of over it. It'll be nice to just be able to play it and not have to worry about it crashing all the time (although I've finally managed to get my Oblivion running with no crashes for the first time in about 6 months which is pretty cool).

So yes, those are my thoughts about this game, it's easily the most anticipated game I've ever had to wait this long for, hurry the f'ck up November!

I'm looking forward to my console version too...

I had morrowind on PC, never appreciated it until later on. Console and cheat commands ruined it, the game isn't the game with all the changes you could make. Got oblivion on xbox 360, and it was brilliant. I had a friend who had it on PC, went around there - his character was kitted out with all daedric armour and had maxed out most of his stuff. He said 'he just made one master character', and I said "how did you get the stats?"... he typed something into the console... Complete bore... No longer was playing oblivion the game but oblivion the sand-box. I will always appreciate the console version more, because it means the game has control - and that's what a game is. What are you even doing if you console cheat everything? you're just watching some neat graphics and animations, you didn't ackomplish anything - you just typed some words then watched the animations for the cool [censored].... To me it's not cool [censored] unless I find it in some interesting way, or work for it. PC gaming was always, in my eyes, for people too soft to play on consoles.

Get a PC elitist, stick em in front of a ps3 with the difficulty on max. Watch him smash the controller trying to get a console to come up.

A game is a set of rules which when followed inspire enjoyment. Without the rules, the paradigm is lost and you no longer have the game. You change a big enough part of it and it's different all together.

Well I'm not saying the PC version is bad in any way, I'm still playing it and enjoying it immensely (especially with Oblivion XP installed), but I don't use the console commands so I'm still playing it cheat-free so it's still as challenging as the console version (although my character's a bit of a beast now), but I still get a better sense of (I hate to say it - immersion) when I play on the 360 and it brings back good memories of Year 6 and 7.
So yes I have nothing against the PC version but am just looking forward to returning to the consoles, because it is just a better experience for me.

I'm right with you guys. Played MW on PC, but I played OB first on PC, then Xbox 360, and now PS3. I'll be getting Skyrim on PS3 and can't wait to get going. I'm looking forward to playing Skyrim vanilla on PS3 for a very, very long time. I may never actually buy it on PC to mod, we'll see...

Hear, hear! I love my PS3. It's been a solid little stalwart, just like my PS2 (but with Blu-Ray!). Also, I'm continually impressed by the graphics as new games come out and are able to take better advantage of the PS3 specs. Obviously, it'll never be on par to a gaming PC and the PS3 is nearing the end of the road, but for the graphics to still be steadily improving in new PS3 games (Uncharted 2, ME2, FF13 all represented another level of PS3 graphics that had yet to be seen) is pretty impressive. I look forward to being wowed by Skyrim on my PS3.

 Maybe I should have named this thread "Excited to play Skyrim on my console", seriosly i don't give a [censored] about the PS3 power compared to 360 I was just saying I wanted to play it on my PS3, I would play it on my Xbox 360 no worries if I had to.
Don't turn this thread into a lame console wars thread, thanks.
Edit: just saw the jk part lol sorry, but it applies to anyone else who would seriously say that
