quest fail safe?

Post » Sat Sep 24, 2011 12:19 am

ok as far as I know if you clear a dungeon you won't get any quest to that dungeon

so what will happen if you clear all dungeons (a bit hard) but not impossible if there will happen an error or game freeze does anyone know if they thought about that?

They've said that the game will pick a dungeon you haven't been to in a really long time

I couldn't understand what you are saying, unless I am reading wrong.

Nevermind I see what you mean

I think the OP is under the impression that dungeons don't respawn.

That impression is wrong, however, as Pete Hines has confirmed that dungeons do indeed respawn after a period of time.

Dungeons respawn, however there is no confirmation that you can receive another quest to go there from an NPC, if that is what you are asking.

Eh, I don't really believe that the system will only send you to unexplored dungeons.

As you say, what if someone explores all the dungeons before even accepting a quest?

No one has ever said quest send you to dungeons you have NEVER been to, they said dungeons you haven't been to in a really long time OR dungeons you've never been to.

I think there are many more factors in the game's algorithm for choice of dungeon than whether or not it has been explored yet (although this will obviously be one of the first questions asked)...

e.g Has the player visited the dungeon with the past *insert timespan*?
Has the player been to this type of dungeon (moss cave, mine, frosty etc) before/recently?
Has the player encountered this type of enemy before/recently?
Has the player changed in level since the last time they visited the dungeon?
Does the dungeon contain an item that would be particularly useful/interesting to the player?

etc. etc. etc. (those examples are a bit [censored])...

Whatever happens it certainly won't be "freezing", relax.

Oh, I see. I didn't know that. Got linky? If not, it's ok, makes sense anyway.

This ^^ except it was said "Radiant AI will chose a close dungeon that you haven't been to or one you haven't been to in awhile'

Don't dungeons lock at a certain level once you enter, even if you haven't cleared it? Does this lock go away when it respawns?

It would be pointless to send a level 50 player into a locked level 10 dungeon.

I think the quests that would send you into a dungeon will simply not be offered, since the radiant AI bases its decisions on what you've already done. If you miss out on this playthrough, you can have them on the next. Replay value.

I dunno.... I'd be alright with that every once and a while. Sometimes I love a good faceroll, just to make my effort of getting to level 50 feel like it has payed off! Isn't that the main reason everybody hated Oblivions level scaling?
