I think there are going to be rabbits, birds and rats. Not sure about squirrels though.

yep. at the beginning of the game play demo, a fox chases a small bird across the path. a bird and a fox, and rats were killed later in the game.

Rats have an ongoing contract with all RPG devs for the former to be in all RPG for the duration of said agreement

That was a rabbit, but yes, birds are confirmed too. So are bees and hawks.

I doubt squirrels are in. They seem difficult to get proper AI out of them.
