THE SEVENTH SEAL

 hellow!

so Esbern played by Max Von Sydow will be an amazing character to
converse with.

one of my favourite movies with him featuring is an old black and white made in the 50s called
THE SEVENTH SEAL

have any of you guys or girls seen this film? if so, whatcha think.

in short, sydow is a battle weary and battle war haunted knight returning home to
europe after one of the crusades.
at the time the whole of europe is on the brinck of "the black death".

he happens upon a travelling circus and agrees to accompany them to some town { his character seeks
some kind of redemption in helping "at least one person", no doubt reflecting somehow what he had seen/done in the
middle east} .
along the way he comes across a shadowy and mysterious stranger that seems to know alot about.....well....everything, for
indeed this stranger is death manifest. in order to escape death sydow challenges this phantom figure to a game of chess. if sydow wins then he and the people in the travelling caravan may live. if he losses the they all must go with him.

the scenery, the score, the scenes {some extreamly dark} and the overall story is an absolute gem in my opinion.
i'd like to know if any of you have seen this film?????

i have a feeling many of you have, but for those who haven't i urge you { if you like old movies } to have
a look.

I remember reading about that movie a few years back in my high school senior film appreciation class, but I didn't know the main character's name. But that's an interesting fact, thanks for showing this!

How is this relevant besides Max voicing Esbern?

:wink_smile: no worries vexxtech. altough his character's name isn't esbern, i forget it { some fan :blush: }
it's a nordic looking movie somewhat, and that i find interesting.
i wonder WHY they chose him for skyrim? it could be partly due to this movie maybe.

he would have suited fallout as he played the judge who was banished to the badlands in judge dread.

can't wait to have a word with him, i'll pass on the chess though as the KNIGHT always wins ! ! ! !
