Eternal snow?

I've always thought of Skyrim's landscape and climate as being something akin to that of Scandinavia or Scotland and if you know anything about these countries you'll know that they're not completely covered by snow and ice. Of course there will be areas, mainly at higher altitudes, where the weather is extreme and the landscape is largely barren tundra, but alongside these areas there will be regions of fertile agricultural land (how else would the Nords acquire the materials for brewing their mead?) and prosperous towns and cities.

Heck, I live in Canada, we are considered Northern. We get only a foot of snow each year where I live. Last year we got about 6 millimeters and that's it.

Yeah, same here, even more I think. Though both last year and this year has been unusually cold for us. We don't always have it this bad, and definitely not all year around.

That arena-map still shows pretty much all of it as snowy :P Though, yeah, I trust them not to make all of it snowcovered. And hopefully with seasons.

When I think of Skyrim I imagine the area around Bruma. But on the other hand, speaking in geographical terms, Morrowing is on the same latitude as Skyrim and has no snow at all ;) so I guess there could still be tons of diverse landscapes.

But Skyrim is more on the north than Morrowind.

*Sigh* This was already covered in an exsisting thread. No Skyrim will not be all snow. As logic dictates, the higher elevated the mountains are, the more snow. It does not mean Skyrim is all snow. The Holds of Eastmarch and The Reach show signs of lush pine forests and rocky grasslands.

For the 1 billionth thread, SKYRIM IS NOT ALL SNOW! Here's a map.

Wow, have a hissy-fit because not all of us has time to read through the 21 pages of threads created this weekend, won't you??

I've only ever played Oblivion, none of the earlier series so my knowledge of Skyrim is limited to the Cyrodiil map, which is pretty much snow all year round. And I'm from Scandinavia myself, and yes, we have a lot of snow, but we also have seasons. If TES actually used the weather to reflect the season I wouldn't have been worried or started this thread, but it doesn't.

I'm glad to see that we can expect much more than white landscapes, thumbs up! Should be awesome with the ocean and the great rivers!

Wow, that's a nice map. I've only been surmising based on the OB map, but it looks like I wasn't too far off saying there will really only be snow on the southern and southeastern portions of Skyrim.

Speak for yourself. I recall there was snow for at least around 2 months last year where I live in Sweden.

I live outside Malmoe, which is in the southern parts... perhaps there's more snow further north :P
