If the PC version didn't have mods would it still be as popu

Are the mods the main thing that draw people to the PC version, or is it the better graphics and performance (if you have the high class computers)?
For me the mods would be the only thing that would draw me to the PC version, but I'm sick of modding Oblivion, it's long and painful when it decides it's going to crash because of one minor little mod, and after going back to the Xbox 360 version yesterday I got right back into the world of "Vanilla" Oblivion and was refreshed at how simple it seemed and how well it ran.
Sure, it's not perfect, but I can just pick it up and play it and it's still solid entertainment that I can just lose myself in.
I do appreciate the incredible amount of high quality mods on the PC though, just don't feel the need to go through all the effort when Skyrim looks good enough as it is.

The Graphics and the Performance (Less Time in Loading Screens) are the meal, the Mods are the delicious dessert.

I agree that the game already looks good (Truly Amazing), but when you is going to spend +300 Hours in it, you want it to be even better.

The PC draws me in because of Graphics and Controls. Controllers feel unnatural to me for some reason. I grew up with a Mouse and keyboard so it just suits me more. I feel like I have more control over the game (control wise)

My fear for this thread is that it will turn out to be a platform/console war and will have to be locked. We will watch it a bit closely for that and lock it at the first indication of that. It's also not so much about skyrim and more about platform choices so I'm not even sure it belongs in this section.

But to answer your question, some people just like to play on a pc more than on a console for many reasons unrelated to mods. I like my keyboard, I like sitting at my desk, I like my monitor and I love my graphics card and processor which allow me to have a rather souped up game experience. I have played on pc for so long that I am a bit awkward with console controls and I don't want to buy a second tv for a home where only two people live.

I have a ps3, but I would get the game on PC regardless. Why? -

+ Graphcis -I love making everything out and the amount of detail is important when trying to lose myself in the game)
+ Modding - As you mentioned it is the lifeblood that'll keep skyrim interesting and fun years after release
+ Controls are far more customizable with a mouse and keyboard (lots of keys to change bindings and a mouse with multiple buttons)
+ Turning and moving is more responsive
+ To me it just feels more natural playing a TES game on the computer

I prefer using a mouse, so that with the faster load times and better graphics regardless of mods would do it for me.

Likely, especially due to graphics. A lot of the mods don't fit into the game at all anyway. :( (Massive swords/anime elves for oblivion anyone?)

I'd kinda like to relax with a controller sometime though, maybe I'll buy one for the PC.
