How many people are playing from when the game first released? Is this game really going to become absolutely obsolete?

Seems most people will probably be going to battlefield 3 leaving Crysis 2 in the dirt. What are some other great games that had potential but in the end were no good? I cannot believe a game with a good name to it could diminish so quickly. It saddens me greatly to see this game go down the drain.

Is there anyway to see how many people are playing online actively. And maybe a graph showing the rate of players not being active as the weeks go on?
