Question about faction alignment in LR

Post » Mon Sep 26, 2011 4:00 pm

Hey all, I've just started Lonesome Road, so please don't put any spoilers in this thread.

I've played for a couple of hours now, and spoken to Ulysses through ED-E twice. The thing is, I'm a big House supporter, and in my current playthrough I have done all the House quests except for the very last one, the fight at Hoover Dam. I am vilified by the Legion, and through doing quests I have become Idolized by the NCR. I am in no way supporting the NCR at the Dam, and I have naturally failed the Don't Thread On The Bear! "quest" by doing a House playthrough.

However, Ulysses keeps adressing me as a New California Republic supporter. He's pointing out their flaws, saying they are too internally divided to hold onto their lands. I know I have a good reputation with the NCR, but I'm not a NCR supporter in this playthrough and it kind of annoys me how he still refers to me as one.

Is this correct, or is this a bug? If his only two 'speech-paths' are that of NCR or Legion, I'd understand why he speaks to me a if I'm NCR. But if there's also a House speech path, I'd be pretty bummed out.

-Its an oversight I think. I think they tied the programming of Ulysses to whichever factions you had high standing with. And I think that House is some other faction "counter" than NCR. IE House has no "faction" count but NCR does so NCR overrides. I had the same problem because I was "Friendly" with the legion, had mixed with NCR and wasnt that far with House. However I got the faction reward for House in the end... So I think the end dialogue matters more. But... I dont know for sure.

It goes by the faction rep, not by the main quest.

NCR seems to be the "default," most likely because becoming Idolized with them requires the most amount of work. The Strip represents House, and having a mixed reputation with all three seems to trigger Independent.

A certain House/Indy quests gives you a good chance to get negative NCR rep. If you wanna lower Strip rep, just draw a weapon in a casino, aim it (right click), then leave the casino before anyone dies. Simply drawing it will get negative rep.

House is The Strip

NCR takes priority over House (in rep so if they are both idolized then NCR will be chosen)

Not sure about Legion in priority but I am going to assume it is between NCR and House.

Indy Vegas is no MAIN faction rep meaning at highest House, NCR and Legion need to be Wild Child.

I know this from testing...a lot.

Ulysses comments to me were a balance between NCR and Legion alignment.
