Everything Necromancy

Post » Mon Sep 26, 2011 9:29 pm

So can someone enlighten me on everything we know about necromancy?

Some specific questions I have about necromancy in TES V: Skyrim are:

  • Is their a Necromancy fraction in TES V: Skyrim?
  • Will all necromancers be aggressive to the player?
  • Will necromancers be hidden in caves, ruins, etc or will they also be open about their practice in settlements?

Also feel free to post anything on necromancy.

Posts can include, but are not limited to:

  • Necromancy lore
  • Necromancy gameplay elements
  • Thoughts and concerns about gameplay elements that include necromancy
  • Necromancy items

Anything below 1/2 is a necromancy fraction.

This confuses me, I'm not sure what this means.

Can you elaborate?

  • Is their a Necromancy fraction in TES V: Skyrim? I doubt it, but they might throw it in.
  • Will all necromancers be aggressive to the player? If it's anything like Oblivion then yes
  • Will necromancers be hidden in caves, ruins, etc or will they also be open about their practice in settlements? I'm guessing in caves and ruins, but necromancy might not be illegal in Skyrim.

I think I read in the lore that necromancy isn't illegal anymore - but there is so little lore on the Mages' Guild after the OB crisis. Can anyone clarify?

How long will the reanimated "live"?
Will they act like zombies or like their old self :(
Is there a limit to how many you can have?

I am hoping it is legal in Skyrim but frowned upon like in Morrowind: I know about as much as you probably sense the mages guild is no more.

I have wanted to do that sense Morrowind, it will help with roleplaying a necromancer. It should make it a more rewarding amusing experience.

First off, Necromancy, in general, is not illegal, only in Morrowind and in the Mages Guild when that damnable Traven took over. Second, it's a tool like all forms of magic.

Lastly, http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-preparation-corpse. Though, there was a plot to revive the prince in Redguard by sealing his soul in a soul gem, and putting it back in his body. However, his soul ended up going into Cryus's sword, and Cyrus used it to unleash all kinds of pwnage on Tiber's forces.

And, Otheral, it is illegal in Morrowind, unless you are part of the hypocritical Temple.

As for my personal views, stick to the book I linked, and make it legal, not those pitiful rejects in OB that are nothing more than stupid evil.

Nice post. I am reading that lore now. Although I must disappoint you and say my necromancer character will be evil and in seek of power, which entails my actions not being legal. Lol.

"As you know, Orc corpses are among the most sought after for the durability of their skin and the strength of their bones."

Looks like my character can possibly become an Orc murderer.

"In Skyrim, the cold weather and isolated terrain allow a few Necromancers to operate freely. Alas, the availability of corpses is limited to Nords who die from exposure or in battle. While the cold is preservative, the snow makes these corpses difficult to find. More research dedicated to the magical detection of corpses would be invaluable to the Necromancers of Skyrim."

Aw yes thanks for that its been a while sense I played Morrowind, thanks for the clairification on that. I must have been blinded by the Tribunal some of my characters I did create was a part of the temple and others challenged them. I remember that it was overlooked in Morrowind because of the temples influence threw out the land and the more traditional Dunmer despised the very thought of it let alone the practice, I made an Ashland Dunmer who hated the Tribunal and necromancy no idea what I was thinking.

I do however hope it is legal but frowned upon in Skyrim, it might create some interesting scenarios for us to mess around with.

It was an interesting read some stuff I've long forgotten. My two necromancers do it just for study and trying to gain all knowledge from magic that is possible.
