So.. Will Skyrim have the fantastic ability to crash just li

So.. can't wait for more amazing ctd.s, or will beth make it right this time?

Fallout NV (which is the lastest, and should better optimised than FO3) must be one of the buggiest games I've ever played, and most times it won't even start. Why should one think Skyrim will be any better?

I won't spend another 40 euro on a game that doesn't work, or where issues won't be adressed.

And no, I'm not alone with these issues.

Fallout New Vegas wasn't developed by Bethtesda , but by Obsidian. So maybe it will be a bit buggy , but i don't think it will be too bad.

I found that Oblivion had the most crashes followed by Fallout 3, so far New Vegas has yet to CTD. Im pretty happy with it. If Skyrim has CTD's i will be really pissed off, but i will accept it like i did for Oblivion xD

There will be bugs, we know that, BGS knows that and freely admit it. That's why there are going to be as and when fixes through steam, PSN and xbox Live, instead of one big patch.

It seems like it may just be your computer. Oblivion crashes a couple times a play session for me but the computer I'm using it on isn't as optimized for it, as it's processor isn't the best. I'm also using a lot of mods too, so noticeably it crashes more due to that.

By the way, X-Files rules. Love the avatar.

considering it's a game that's been programmed by humans, and the fact that it's an entire country with a rich eco-system... course it can crash, but then so can MSword. lol

Nah head over to the Hardware section for Fallout and you'd find LOTS of ctd issues. Almost all of them occuring at loadup = not fun.. Besides my computer is brand new, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Ye x-files own :P

Compared to modded Oblivion, Fallouts are stable as a bedrock.

And the games' optimisation and stability has been constantly improving (atleast for me), so i've no doubt Skyrim will be the most optimised and stable game yet. Perhaps even most bug free? (THAT might be pushing it :lmao:).

Well the biggest problem for me is that they won't adress the more serious issues, they just move on to another game.

So if you bought a car and found out that's it ain't built in a proper way.. wouldn't u care?

If I buy something, then I'd expect it to work pretty flawlessly, which ain't the case watching the hardware sections = lots of ppl having the same issues that won't be adressed.

Why should one expect it to be better this time around?

Must be talking about the PC versions of the games. I haven't had any of these problems on my Xbox. Not even a single time.

Generally same with me. I play on Xbox 360, and in hundreds of hours of playtime on Oblivion, it very rarely crashed. Perhaps the very occasional freeze, but that is no different to any other game I have played.

Yep. Too many possible configurations and combinations thereof for the PC. Mods more than make up for it though.

So yeah, Skyrim for PC will likely have its share of crashes (also probably 1 of the reasons why they demo for the Xbox, which also reportedly crashed a few times). But crash w/ mods and stable without is a no brainer for me so i put up with it.

Oh, ok. I was confused. You guys were talking about these problems, and I hadn't experienced any of it, so I was doing the "huh?!" face. lol

That and they said that the demos on the Xbox crashed the few times that it did, because those were being run on the older model Xbox's. The Elites and the new 360S had no problems. This is from the aftermath of the latest Gamer Expo (in Europe I think).

Of all Bethesda's RPGs, in order of crashyness on my PC (with unofficial patches applied):

1. Fallout NV. (sometimes frequent lockups, sometimes no lockup at all.)
2. Oblivion (occasional CTD. frequent CTD when quiting the game)
3. Fallout 3 (occasional lockup, occasional CTD when quiting the game)
4. Morrowind (it's been a while since I played it, but I don't remember any serious CTD's)

But in my experience, the first Witcher (EE) is a LOT worse than any of Bethesda's games. That must be one of the most crash-prone games I ever played.

Calm down people...

Bethesda made a new engine, The Creation engine. This engine can hold more on screen and give higher fps. This means no crash, no lag.
Fallout is a game with lots of clutter, that ran the fps down and made the game lag or crash, but without the clutter it wouldn't be fallout.
This is the reason Lonesome Road was so laggy for some (Every 30 min i got a major lag that didn't go away if i didn't quite)

FO3 crashed every 20-30 mins on my machine so...

Morrowind only on exit (like Oblivion), Daggerfall all the time - seriously it must be the buggiest game ever created.

F:NV only after I modded it to hell and back and this only when there are many effects on screen (EVE).

It still amazes me they never bothered to fix this. It must be one of the easiest bugs to replicate; just quit the d*mn game a couple of times and there you have it! I suppose they think a crash on exit is not a priority.

That's a pretty silly anology. A car is manufactured in factory's where there is no case of making a mistake or leaving something out. Cars have to be perfect, and newly bought cars always are. A car cannot have bugs, only electronic devices such as a route planner. A game is in development for years, and ofcourse developed & build by humans.
