A Character's Physical Development.

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I started wondering something and messaged Pete Hines about it on his Twitter. I asked him if I built a skinny character in the build, would it change over time as I built more strength? I.e look more buff.

Now, I haven't gotten a response as of yet, but, another user asked if eating food would besides generating health, make you fat? In response, Pete said: "No, we don't change your body size based on what you eat."

Could this be confirmation that other factors change appearance? I know Pete said beards cannot be shaven, or grown over time. But as for the rest, it would be pretty cool to see the progression. With this said, it would be pretty sweet if we developed battle scars over time too.

I think you're way to optimistic, since they also said, you can't chance your character after creation.

Reading way too much into it. I doubt anything will change our characters after creation. Could be wrong, but pretty sure.

The chance of this happening is very unlikely.

yep,u cant change

and i know whats the reason

if we can change appearance like getting buff when we get tougher, then why we make a character less buff in the first place?

besides,we can expect alot of complain threads ,like

"omg i dont want my character to get buffer anymore i just want him to be like the way i create him"

Obviously there would be a limit. But they did this in the GTA series as I recall, so saying it's not possible, isn't necessarily correct. Remember, I did note facial features do not change, but body types might be different. No need to be too cynical either, people. :)

You can change your weight while you're creating your character. If you choose to be fat would fighting or running too much make you skinny, I doubt it.

No. You're reading into that too much and being far too optimistic.

Personally, I wouldn't mind very subtle changes to my character's appearance as I play the game - but i'm not sure i'd trust Bethesda to keep it subtle. Most other games that have something similar are far too eager to show off the transformations, and I end up worrying whether the slightest of actions will drastically alter how my character looks.

Sadly I still will not be able to create my fat, greedy Bosmer businessman in this game either. :sadvaultboy:

I think it kind of svcks you can't change dynamic features like hair, facial hair, tattoos and scars. But I can live with that, it doesn't svck nearly as much as having third person riding :sadvaultboy:

On topic, since there are no attributes, implementing dynamic muscle mass would be a challenge I guess.

I'm talking about becoming more defined, toned if you will. Not necessarily becoming this massive beast of muscle. If you play a mage for instance, this may not occur at all. However, if you're focused as a warrior, it might alter things slightly. Who's to say it won't be subtle.

May I remind some of you of the Cheydinhal Pet Shop mod, in Oblivion? You could get an animal companion that would get bigger and stronger, the further levels you yourself gained. After awhile, it would stop. lvl 30 I believe, though, it got bigger every 5 levels before that cap.

Also, an example of subtle progression would be a game known as Shadow of the Colossus. :)

I don't know why people keep saying this. They just made it easier to compile. If you put points into warrior, you've put points into strength. It's that simple.

I figured that response pretty much hinted at no body morphing of any kind.

I don't see how that says that, considering he said, "based on what you eat," and did not outright say, you cannot change what you chose in character creation.
