Skyrim is easily the most epic composition out of the three, but Oblivion to me sounds closest to Pirates of the Caribbean. It's not exactly the same, but the general feel of theme music just go together IMO.

Not really. The thought hadn't crossed my mind before seeing this thread. I guess there are some very vague similarities... :shrug:

Listen to the POTC one that I posted for a few seconds into the main theme, then immediately go to the Oblivion one I posted, the similarities that close together made me laugh. Skyrim doesn't really sound that much like it but the similarity is still there for me.

Yeah after looking at the full theme music for Skyrim the feel of it is much more epic and completely different tone to the other two, but Oblivion and POTC are undeniably similar. Maybe I'll add in POTC music in my Oblivion game on the PC, seems to mesh perfectly with the world.

Skyrim's theme as heard in the official after the player shouts is the same progression/chorus in Oblivion's main menu which, for that matter, was the same progression in Morrowind's main menu. Granted they're all remixed and have a unique feel to 'em.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" (aptly named) theme, to my ear, borrows from said progression/chorus. Good catch! The beginning of the Pirate theme is the TES subject but arpeggiated with TES notes starting the beats. I wouldn't doubt at all, particularly after listening to it more, that TES directly influenced the tune. It's Disney though, so even if that's the case they'll never admit it and I'm sure they've covered their asses and made sure it was 10% different or whatever so they don't get sued.
