Any word on seperate character save file?

Has it been confirmed yet if characters get their own save file or will the laundry list of character saves return?

This only seems to be a problem with the PC users, right? Because on consoles it's very easy to just create another user and save the new one there.

Oh god I hope not. It's nothing game-breaking, but what a PITA.

I hope so, the amount of high level characters that I have accidentally overwritten over the years is unbelievable.

Well, we know that the game autosaves automatically through timed intervals of your choosing. You can set up auto saves for example like every 5 minutes and it will save three. So on the 15th minute, a new autosave will be created and the third oldest auto save will be deleted. But that's all we know.

I think Pete commented on this on twitter a while ago, telling us there won't be seperate save files, sorry. However, I'm not sure, check out his tweets.

It would be nice if they let us name our save files like in Morrowind, at least then we can make our own schemes to help remember which save belongs to which character.

No, I'm a console gamer, and there is no way I'm making a seperate gamertag for every character I make.

I would be disappointed if it's not by character. I was constantly worried about accidentally saving over one of my other character's save files. I would think the value added would far out weight the difficulty to implement.

I remember there being names beside each save in all the previous games. It was like "save 1 " and some other information I can't remember right off. It might not have been in that particular order but there was never a problem in knowing which save went to which character.

It was really just a case of remembering your characters and what they were. I would recommend a list kept in the game box if you find yourself unable to do this from memory for whatever reason, it's what I do in planning out the pc to begin with and can prove useful afterwards.

I play on console, so it's pretty easy on creating a character and preserving their save, also I make 3-5 saves, just in case.

Posted this in another thread, copy/pasting and idleness :

Remember saving at the end of the tutorial dungeon in Oblivion? Then loading, changing your character and exiting the sewers instead of starting from the beginning again? If your file is named when you make it, and stored separately, you will either have different characters in the same folder, with the same name, or every character has to start from the beginning, and do the first half hour. Just pointing that out.

I HATE the saving on my Xbox for OB. I would start over on a character after working on one... save for the first time... and it would be labeled "Save 136". I guess I'm OCD, but that got on my nerves... :shakehead:

Makes sense, but I'd honestly rather have to do the beginning over again each time and have seperate files than save 30min of intro for a messy list. I make far too many characters and always like to come back to other character for their different play styles/builds, and hoping around from character to character often leads me to save over characters I was just playing as a bit ago. It's rather irritating, I keep 3-4 save per character and always save over the oldest one, but I often save at certain points to show friends different parts of the game. So with all the character jumping and special saves and whatnot one big list ends up being horrendous to navigate.
