Looking for suggestions for my next character

Post » Wed Sep 02, 2009 11:52 pm

So I've been gone from Oblivion and these forums for about 2 weeks now. I found my RP character and story fun for awhile but it was nothing I could really get in to, and I wasn't going to force myself to play a character and write a story that I didn't enjoy. Anyways, I've been playing alot of WoW and tried my hand at Daggerfall (I failed, epicly), and now I'm back here trying to get a new character started. I'm looking for help designing a character to play, and while I'm ok with SOME RPing (some meaning a sort of backstory and guideline towards playing the game), I do not want this character to be a full out RP experience (as I know some of you will suggest).

These are characters I've played already

The one in my sig
Orc H2H Brawler
Shadowscale Assassin
Nord Tank Warrior
Nord Viking
Nord Barbarian
Woodelf Hunter / Woodsman
Dunmer BattleMage
Breton Priest/Monk
Breton Mage
Argonian Jack of All Trades

You wouldn't happen to be related to Zacharius Svedlin would you?

Anyhow, go for a deranged Bosmer who rums around naked punching people in the back. Try and rack up your bounty as high as possible before eventually getting arrested.

Once out of jail, go to the stats. screen and check 'Days Passed'. You'll have a good chuckle, I assure you.

Lol nope :P, I make my fair share of characters but not near as many as he does (not as frequently anyway)

I might give that a try, but I'm looking for something a little more long term, a character I can complete the game with and all its DLC

If you're looking to really "complete" the game, i.e. complete the Main Quest, all guild questlines, DLCs, SI and side quests, I would say a stealthy character is the best. A stealthy archer is good for DB and TG quests, while any character can complete FG and MG. Sneak ranged attacks are a huge advantage. I'd go for a Bosmer, or possibly an Imperial. Marksman, Sneak and Illusion will be vital.

Vampire Assassin.

Preferably Khajiit.

Looks like you've played a little of everything. Has anything stuck out as particularly fun or interesting?

And what about WoW? What kinds of characters have you made there? There might be some common ground that'd help spark inspiration.

Bosmer Scout. I like the idea of a vampire-assassin though.

Do you have SI?

I'd make a mystic that primarily relies on reflection to dispatch his enemies. If you have SI you can get damage reflection when rebuilding that guardian thing. Otherwise you'll have to pick the tower birthsign. Might get a bit boring after a while, since you're mostly sitting there letting your reflection kill everything.

On WoW I love playing my Deathknight, Frost Mage, and Rogue. But unless there is someway to make a summoning spell for a zombie that lasts forever (to represent the DKs ghoul), a Dual Wielding mod that is actually fun, or a spells mod that adds something like frost nova, or adds a slow / chill effect to frost spells there is no way I can really create something similar.

Try a Bosmer Recon Sniper.

Specialization: Stealth

Primary Attributes: Agility, Speed

Major Skills: Alchemy, Illusion, Mysticism, Acrobatics, Light Armor, Marksman, Sneak

Extensive use of Detect Life (use an enchanted item) makes finding your targets pretty easy. Poisons bring them down fast. Invisibility helps to escape from large groups. Frenzy makes large groups reduce their size for you.

This is the build I use for Elberond. It's pretty fun.

interesting. I will definately try this provided I can get a woodelf to actually look good (I can't play the character if I don't like the way my character looks). If not I might have to switch to an Argonian (cuz they look cool and have bonus to illusion I believe)

Female wood elves can look pretty good.

Altmer Illusionist seems to be one of the few things you haven't tried.

Try a Khajiit who smuggles skooma around cyrodiil and the shivering isles. You could go for smuggling greenmote or felldew as well.

Redguard/claymore/light or no armor -- pure swordsman.
Bosmer/blunt/heavy armor -- pure tank.

Why not go for a thief? I do not see a High Elf or a Redguard in there, so go with one of those races. Take the High Elf and use illusion magic to bolster the thieving skills. The character could have been exiled from Summerset for doing something truly abominable, like kissing a member of another race. Finding her/himself alone in Cyrodiil, with no money, no friends, no prospects, s/he naturally turns to theft, and finds that s/he likes the thrill that comes from pulling a job.
