What will you miss?

Hey everyone. So there's lots of games coming out this fall. I'm going to be buying just one of them for myself, which is obviously Skyrim, but I know some of you will be getting other games as well.

I really do think I'll play Skyrim hard-core for quite a while. Oblivion will sit on my shelf for awhile. I'm not sure how long "a while" is yet, only time will tell. :violin:

So the question is...what will bring me back to Cyrodil?

I think it'll be the NPCs enemies, and NPCs in general! All the random stuff they say, the clumsiness of listening to Bethesda's first try at putting voice acting into a TES game. NPC voiceovers in their infancy, in other words.

I believe Skyrim's NPC enemies (and NPCs in general) will be much more polished, so far as the things they say in times of peace and in times of war. I'm thinking they're gonna make sense most of the time, with rare exceptions.

Some folks are worried Skyrim's NPCs are gonna be just like Oblivion's. I on the other hand, think Bethesda's team will only show massive improvement in this area. Any humor from these NPCs will be intentional, know what I'm saying?

Anyways, check this out ladies and gents. What will bring me back to Oblivion & Cyrodil? The NPCs! The Lol moments.  :smirk: The fact that most of the time, Oblivion's NPCs have me laughing my ass off, but the humor of this game is mostly unintentional!

Get what I"m saying? Here's a short roleplay for ya....

Eradi~Kate enters the room in stealth mode. :ninja: Her skin is cold, her Hunter's Sight allows her to see far ahead into the next room of the fort she's currently stalking...there's a Conjurer ahead

Conjurer: Whatever it was, it's gone now...

Kate raises up (leaves stealth mode) readies her bow, and aims!

Conjurer: Heh. I'd better cut down on the ale. Starting to see thigs I....

Suddenly, there's a yellowish light up ahead! The Conjurer has spotted Kate!!!

Conjurer: YOU MOVE LIKE A PREGNANT COW! the Conjurer (obviously an elf) shouts

(Huh? How does he know Kate moves like a pregnant cow? Have they met before? Why a pregnant cow? Kate is actually pretty lithe as being a stealthy assassin demands...so maybe he's just trying intimidate her with juvenile humor???)

Kate conjures up a zombie in retaliation to the Conjurer's scamp

Conjurer: O HO HO HO HO!!!!

throws fireball

Conjurer: I'VE FOUGHT MUDCRABS MORE FEARSOME THAN YOU!

Huh? MUDCRABS?

Somehow the zombie makes it past the scamp, and is now attacking the Conjurer

Zombie: ROOOWWWWWW EEEEEEEEE OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EEEEEEEE

Conjurer: OH WHAT'S THE MATTER? GETTING...UGH !!

Scamp: wwwsssssshhhhhhhhhhhh shhhhh shhhhhhh shhhhhh

Conjurer: Argh!....I'VE FOUGHT MUDCRABS MORE OOOOF!!!!

The Conjurer is obviously weak now, so Kate prepares to throw a Major Wound destruction spell at him

Conjurer: UCK!.....FALL BEFORE ME BRETON!!! ARREEARRR!

Kate throws Major Wound spell: WWOOOOOOOOOOONNNNN!

Conjurer
: YOU MOVE LIKE A PREGNANT
OOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Pure entertainment! Cyrodil's lands are pretty pretty pretty, I LOVE them, but it's the NPCS, their unintentional humor, which will bring me back!

Their reactions to getting hit with fireballs and pummeled by Kate's bow also sound very convincing to me, and pricelessly painful at times!
