Perfection vs. Acceptable "I'm getting worried about&#34

From what I've seen in my other thread and the "It's the alpha build" thread there seems to be a misconception that those who want it to run well seek perfection, which is largely inaccurate. Let's look at Oblivion for a minute again, despite some people having no problem with how it ran on 360, the majority of people have noticed how poorly optimized it was, and how it would suffer from pop-in, mid area loads, and low framerate issues. These problems with Oblivion DO exist. Not so much in towns or dungeons, but definitely in the over world forest, which is a HUGE aspect of Skyrim's gameplay as it was Oblivion.

People will say that graphics and performance is not integral to Skyrim on these forums, because the gameplay is so good, but in reality, these issues do impair gameplay and fluidity to a large degree, by really taking you out of the experience or glitching up a combat encounter.

Now, let's look at Fallout 3 on consoles, it ran EXTREMELY better than Oblivion, could be due in part to the smaller world, but whatever. It ran really well, an dI was rarely taken out of the immersion, but pop in and stutters, and glitches did occur, just not to the extent that there was in Oblivion.

I will say, that seeing a floating character, or a weird texture, or A pop in every once every few hours is really fine and to be expected. No one, not even PC gamers, I think, are expecting a purely stutter free experience. We just don't want it to occur with such frequency as it did in Oblivion, and maybe Fallout 3.

Now, if Skyrim manages to run better than Fallout 3 on consoles, then I will be as happy as I can be with the game. Is that a possibility to hope for?

There's another "Alpha Build" thread on the very first page. Feel free to join the discussion http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1234015-dont-worry-its-an-alpha-build/page__pid__18676324__st__80#entry18676324

it would be unrealistic to expect a perfect Elder Scrolls game, even on the PC

I don't even think two PC gamers can agree on a set list of "Essential Mods" for Oblivion/Morrowind, much less what is perfection.

All I want is a compelling worldspace to inhabit. If you hand me Morrowind with snow, I'll be happy, though I definitely think BGS should strive for Much more (And it appears they have).
