IGDaily Screenshot info

Post » Tue Sep 27, 2011 7:42 am

I was looking around and found a video on IGDaily and have gathered some nifo from these screenshots that may interest some of you, and if this info isnt new to most of you...oh well : /
-theres an "iron shield" as well as a "banded iron shield"
-charcoal is an item....dont know what it could be used for tho... :/
-in the pc's inventory were (40) Corundum ingots....apparently from my searching around on the internet...Corundum could be used for armor...but other sources say its another name for ruby, sapphire, and emerald.
-i saw "hunting bow" in the weapon list...adding to the belief there are several different types of bows :PPP
-in apparel list i saw "footwraps" and if my vision serves me correctly.."Roughspun Tunic" (according to Wiktionary.. this translates to (of a garment or cloth) Woven from a coarsely spun yarn, (usually also from a coarse material

feel free to discuss related material and let me know if you find anything about Corundum

I'm genuinely curious as to what kind of materials Dwemer and Elven armors are going to be crafted out of. Seeing something like "Corundum Ingots" puts a little hope in me that it simply won't be "Dwarven Ore/Ingots, Elven Ore/Ingots".

Footwraps? To wrap our feet? Do feet need to be wrapped?

This just raises more questions than it answers.

hmm maybe.. possible that iron+a[censored]tonofcharcoal=steel :0...in that case..wooohhooo..i mean it would make sense that steel armor is forged from multiple elements because it is an alloy

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel all you need for steel is iron ore, a lot of heat and a source of carbon to get basic steel.

also says you can add some other things for better quality or specific characteristics like adding nickel and manganese for improved tensile strength and chromium to reduce corrosion.

It'd be kickass if ingame smithing were this deep and complex.

Coal would be better than, but charcoal is impure carbon.

Edit: Whoops i got that the wrong way round, apparently charcoal is used to make high grade steel so it seems likely you need charcoal for that.

Footwraps are cheap shoes. Can't afford some leather boots? Wrap your feet up in some cloth strips....

Corundum is the volcanic glass, I think.
So, corundum is most likely used in making glass armor.
Ebony is a specific kind of volcanic glass, so we'll probably have ebony as its own material.

Charcoal is used in smithing. Iron + Carbon = Steel

I find it odd that TES ebony is volcanic glass (like obsidian) when real world ebony is a kind of wood.

Yes, I know it's Nirn and not Earth, just an observation.
