Will you have the subtitles on or off for the conversation d

Post » Tue Sep 27, 2011 8:45 am

Sometimes I like to turn it off when I just feel like relaxing and listening to every word they say, but mostly I read the text and skip to the next part while the NPC is half-way through their speech.
What do most people do here?
I'm hoping the diversity in voice actors will make me less inclined to skip the voiced dialogue, but I guess I'll just have to see.

Unless it's automatically on, I probably won't turn it on.

I always have subtitles on, although I rarely tend to skip stuff. I just don't like thinking there's stuff I might miss.

On, for when the wife thinks she has something worthy of trying to interrupt me for.

Being partially deaf I turn them on, but deafness is not the only reason, sometimes accents can throw me, so it's good to confirm what is being said.

I usually turn it on for every game I own. That way, I never miss what a character says.

I'm the same way. I'll usually ignore subtitles until something important comes along.

On, I kinda need them, losing your hearing as a kid isn't good. :nono:
Not only because of that, I enjoy reading.

I trun them on just in case I miss something. I always have when games started using more voice overs.

I'll have subtitles on. I see them as my character's interpretation of what was said (my character won't necessarily have trouble with an accent just because I do).

I will have it on because sometimes I don't understand what the person says, so then I read it.

I'll have them on for awhile, but eventually (when I wanna clear up the HUD entirely) I'll turn them off.

OP should add a poll.

I like to have them on. I like to read along when they talk basically. Creates more of a experience talking with someone. And I dont wanna miss any key information.

On, as english isn't my native language and sometimes read words are easier to understand than heard words.

I've never done a poll before, I'll give it a go now.

I turn them on because it helps me get my readering lvl up while i destroy brains cells putting massive hours in skyrium or other games. plus alot is said out side of turn based dialogue in real time that can be funny or important like "it's this way" so its best not to miss the little details in the game so guy probably got paid thousands of dollars to insert.

i usually have them on, though in this case ill first have to see whether they make following conversations easier now that there is all sorts of background noise or if that background noise will have its own subtitles that constantly interrupt my conversations.

That depends on whether or not I can actually understand what someone is trying to tell me. In Lord of the Rings, some of the accents are so thick that I have to put subtitles on just to make out what they're saying -- I have to do this with Gandalf a lot.

For past games I have had the conversation dialog where your locked in conversation with the NPC, on, but generic subtitles off. I'll probably keep it that way, possibly turning off both to increase immersion.
