I'm new to the Elder Scrolls series and I want some advice on which race to choose. So far I like the idea of using a combination of spells and one-handed weapons (like in the demo). I know that a lot of races can do just about anything, but I just want some opinions. Also, I'm a bit confused on how valuable each racial ability is. I'll ultimately have to wait until the game comes out, but I'd like some input.

What is your playstyle? (Edit: Now I read it.)

I recommend a Nord or a Dunmer. Maybe even a Khajiit if fur is your thing. :tongue:

Well, its easy if you're a noob.
Pick a race that is akin to your interests. All races are equally valid ways of playing.

Maybe you like nature? So be a woodelf.

Maybe Vikings? Be a nord.

Maybe Monsters? Orcs/Argonians

Maybe you're a furry? Khajiit/

Basically, put yourself in the game world and decide who you'd want to like like or be were you in that universe.

Dark elf for your particular playstyle.

I would actually recommend Dark elf for most new players, as they are the most balanced and give you a good idea of what you like.

1. Yes any race can do anything well
2. Bretons/high elves have good magic..bretons better warriors than high elves but dark elves are the best spell sword
3. Only valuable racial abilities are strong resistances since u can enchant armor for other resistances
And most racial abilities are spells u can buy in some form or another later on
(i.e command animal for bosmer is basically a low level command creature spell)

Race choice can be a mine field. There are obvious leaders in each area, but you can just as easily chose based on looks alone. My genuine recommendation: Breton. But I recommend trying them all if this is your first time playing. You might be surprised what you like.

Dunmer/Argonian are great 'beginner' style races. Dunmer is well balanced and Argonian just have a crap load of 'noob' abilities.
