Consistent Game Crashing

Post » Thu Sep 03, 2009 9:58 pm

I just added the Dead Money and Honest Hearts DLC. Now when I run about in open spaces or try to access certain building, the game crashes. I can repeat the crash at will by trying to walk into the terminal building at Camp McCarran. Just I get the door main set of doors, I get the crash. I wasn't having these issues before loading the DLC. I did the whole"Verify Integrity of Game Cache" and tried not loading the DLC, but the problem persists.

I am running:
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 3070MB RAM
Page File: 1445MB used, 4693MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem as you. They really boned 1.3 patch and they didn't bother fixing it before releasing the DLC.

I'm tired of trying to figure ways out to fix it. They have to fix it because i bought the game from them and they break it on me? Thats not very good business.

It would be nice to know if Obsidian recognizes this is an issue is working on it. Do I need to work out something myself, look for a fan patch, or an official patch will be out in x days. All I know is that verifying the integrity of the data isn't cutting it.

Same here. Crashing consistently since the patch. Removing mods doesn't fix it. "verifying the integrity of the data" doesn't fix it. Patch has definitely broken the game. :(

I downloaded Honest Hearts today and now the game crashes every ten to thirty minutes on my old saves. I tried starting a new game and now every time I go into a building it's filled with red boxes. Tried reloading, same thing. Unselected Honest Hearts from my Data Files, still does it. Really pissing me off. Hope Bethesda fixes this soon.

I got a work around in place. At McCarran instead of walking to straight to the main doors, I circle around following the road at the back of the camp and enter the doors on the far left of the building as your face it. The game still randomly decides to crash in other areas though. F5 is your friend. Honest Hearts ran as cleanly as the rest of the game.

Seriously Obsidian spend some more time in bug squashing / finishing your games. I love you guys for the longest time. Every game Black Isle or Obsidian has ever published is in my game library. ALL of them. Fallout and Planescape: Torment are among my favorite games of all times. Baldur's Gate 2 is the definition of epic. Hell, I bought Interplay stock because of your games. Don't ask how that went.

Obviously I really like what you are trying to do, but the bugs are very frustrating. Publishers are rushing you to get games out, you need a pay check, you inherited a buggy game engine, your games are huge with lots of options making squashing every bug difficult, etc. I understand that. However the ending to SWTOR 2 at best was non-existent. Fallout NV's bugs are criminal; a game killer caught me on my first play through about 35 hours in. We won't discuss Alpha Protocol's crouching animation. I won't beat a dead horse. You have heard it before. Please make sure there is some seriously polish on Dungeon Siege 3, a game I had zero interest in until I heard you were developing it.
