5 Characters @ lv 51... Perks + Playstyle

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2011 3:10 am

I started this as an exercise to help determine which race I should choose for my 1st playthrough... but I found that fathoming simply leads to indecision. Knowing the answers to the following would be of immense help.

-Stamina---is it really that useful??? I mean in oblivion fatigue was no where near as good as magicka and health were. u can sprint for longer with high fatigue which is nice but u can probably sprint more if u were really good at restoration and could cast healing spells whenever fatigue got low

-Need to know the light armor perk tree.... I assume that there will be a perk that increases movement speed (reasoning = heavy armor perk that enables u to move like wearing swim trunks when actually entirely clad in metal)

-Can Khajiits poison their claws??? do the claws get the x15 sneak attack bonus??? If Khajiits wear gauntlets can they still use their claw attack??? Can one block with nothing equipped in either hand (using only h2h)???

Is the Smithing Perk tree 1 giant line??? that would kinda svck... it would make smithing an all or nothing skill.... ive got a lot of characters below who dabble in smithing which might not turn out to make any sense

Notes before beginning

Health/Stamina/Magicka--- I may have overvalued the usefulness of fatigue and undervalued the importance of health.... we'll see when the game comes out

Perks--- 50 perks in I still feel like my characters do not have enough... Spending perk points shall be very tricky

Potential Character # 1
Race: ORSIMER
Class: Warsmith
Name- Biggdong Gro-hard
Level- 51

Health- 420
Stamina- 280
Magicka-100

Major Skills:
-Two-Handed (10 Perks)
-Heavy Armor (10 Perks)
-Block (9 Perks)
-Smithing (11 Perks)
-Enchanting (7 Perks)

Minor Skills:
-Alchemy- (2 Perks)
-Restoration- (1 Perk)

Description / Play-style--- Battle-Axe wielding menace clad in impenetrable enchanted armor... Combat heavy + looting playstyle... also casts novice restoration spells to restore health + fatigue and drinks/consumes numerous potions and foods... he also belts out the occasional word in the tongue of dragons to everyones' bewilderment, including his own.

Potential Character # 2
Race: BRETON
Class: Druid
Name:
Level: 51

Health- 240
Stamina- 300
Magicka- 260

Major Skills:
-Alchemy (11 Perks)
-Archery (8 Perks)
-Sneak (8 Perks)
-Light Armor (7 Perks)

Minor Skills
-One-Handed (4 Perks)
-Enchanting (4 Perks)
-Smithing (4 Perks)
-Alteration (4 Perks)

Description / Play-style--- An older man, this grey-haired Breton prefers to spend his time frolicking in the fields picking flowers and roots for various alchemical endeavors... He combines this one great passion of his with his explorative spirit; seeking foes in caves and dungeons to test the results of his latest alchemical concoctions... He's still in good shape for an older man, built like a marathon runner, this wizened breton possesses both fleetness of foot as well as the uncanny ability to go undetected under the cover of shadow or night. He is competent with short blades and daggers but only uses them only as a last resort because he is too frail to exchange blows with hulking brutes in clashes of attrition... The tool he prefers to use to administer his life's work is a bow. An archer from age 10, he has grown remarkably proficient with its use over the decades and has an intimate connection with his bow. So accustomed are his hands to its feel that he can deftly administer poisons to arrows, string and de-string his bow, mount arrows, draw, aim, and hit his target between the eyes from 80 paces. All this he does quickly, silently, and in near total darkness. Indeed a very formidable foe if met underground... If met outright in a field during midday he may not appear very threatening, but he is difficult to deal with nonetheless. His slender yet durable constitution allows him to turn heel and leg it to saftey... Even at his age he is able to outlast all others in a long-distance traverse.... If one were folly enough to give chase and continue it for an extended period of time it would be disastrous to their livelihood. The grey-haired breton would simply break their line of sight, either through physical prowess or by the falling cover of night. Once this happens; the roles of "hunter" and "quarry" are emphatically reversed.

Potential Character #3
Race: DUNMER
Class: Battlemage
Name: Lezul
Level: 51

Health- 260
Stamina- 220
Magicka- 320

Major Skills:
-Destruction (9 Perks)
-One-Handed (9 Perks)
-Smithing (9 Perks)
-Enchanting (9 Perks)
-Restoration (9 Perks)

Minor Skills:
-Light Armor / Heavy Armor (5 Perks)

Description / Play-style--- Fire wielding battlemage... i think i'll go with an axe as my 1-handed... I'll think of myself as a dragon trapped in dark elf form and with the amount of fire that will spew from my hands it wont be difficult to imagine. A battlemage needs the best armor so i am heavily invested in both smithing and enchanting. He hates Nords so he'll leave a trail of singed natives wherever he treads.

Potential Character #4
Race: BOSMER
Class: Ranger
Name: Farslo
Level: 51

Health- 220
Stamina- 320
Magicka- 260

Major Skills:
-Archery (10 Perks)
-Sneak (10 Perks)
-One-Handed (6 Perks)
-Light Armor (6 Perks)
-Restoration (6 Perks)

Minor Skills:
-Enchanting (4 Perks)
-Illusion (4 Perks)
-Alchemy (4 Perks)

-Description / Play-style--- I think i'll make my bosmer's as muscular as i can... its a refreshing look for the wood elves that have looked like dweebs for.... all of TES actually. He should look like who he is... and he is a woodsmer / wilderness type who likes mountains and forests. Naturally he should look like he can take care of himself and not be a pansy. Anyways... enough about how he looks. On to how he plays. He plays like a typical sneaky wood elf. Did i mention how they look kinda intimidating??

Potential Character #5
Race: Khajiit
Class:
Name: Xhabbo
Level: 51

Health- 250
Stamina- 400
Magicka-150

Major Skills:
-Light Armor (11 Perks)
-Block (7 Perks)
-Sneak (8 Perks)
-Pickpocketing (8 Perks)
-Restoration (8 Perks)
-Alchemy (5 Perks)

Minor Skills:
-Illusion- (2 Perks)
-Heavy Armor- (1 Perk- or as many as needed for h2h gauntlet bonus)

Note---I assumed all questions that i asked @ the beginning were answered affirmatively... I doubt all those questions will work themselves out the way i hope but if that does turn out to be the case then i'll surely be making a khajiit for my 1st or 2nd playthrough

Description / Play-style--- A fast and scrappy cat that almost exclusively uses his claws to end conflict in his favor... He delivers devastating punishment with a flurry of powerful paw-swipes and then brings his hands back to a ready position; poised to either strike again or block an opponents attack. Usually by the 3rd flurry of claws and snarls the adversary is too badly lacerated to fight back and can only wallow in despair as he loses consciousness in a pool of his own blood... Although this tactic works very well on un-armored or lightly armored opponents it does little to those fully clad in heavy metal. To quickly dispatch these foes he turns to smearing potent poisons on his claws and/or seeks to sneak up his enemy to inflict critical damage on the unsuspecting target. He has lacking/absent morals and looks to rob, kill,(or both) wealthy individuals for personal gain... Some would say his tendency to commit crime is merely the byproduct of a society with a racial totem pole who treat the lower rungs with scorn. I say that he just plays to his strengths.

FInal Notes--- As i was writing, it occurred to me that a sneak character is probably the best option for a 1st playthrough... Cause the game wont be familiar and would be decently scary as a result. What im trying to say is I think out of the 3 main classes (theif, mage, warrior) I think a sense of wonder and mystery in the game world is most important to the thief class. Also--- sneaking through dungeons can get tedious especially if on a 2nd playthrough... Also sneaking takes time and would stretch out the time of the playthrough and give u time to observe much.

Do you think its better to beat the 4 guilds, numberous sidequests, and the main quest all with 1 character... or do you prefer to devote certain characters for certain guilds??... Come to think of it that is yet another benefit of making one of my stealth characters first... I'll save the companions and possibly the college of uhhh... mages... for a 2nd character.

Lots of reading, I'm gonna need a moment- quick scan though, I have a feeling they've made Stamina more necessary this time around.

You can probably get rid of quite a few perks for those characters. For example the orc, you have no use for most if not all blocking perks if you use two handed weapons. And smithing will probably be 2 branches of a tree, one branch for light armour, the other for heavy armour.

One thing the perk trees will probably also do is make you prioritise. Being able to get max perks for 4 or 5 skills would just make most stereotypical characters play exactly the same.
