I have noticed when watching the demos that the only thing you get from Bleak Falls Barrow is a dragon word and not much treasure, this doesnt explain why there would be bandits trying to get in. It may just be me but i dont find it makes much sense for some regular human NPC's to be trying to get into the place for a Dragon word. i think it would make more sense if it was just undead Draugr, and the dungeons with treasure should have more human style guards.

There could be more treasure than what they showed. They might not have explored every nook and cranny in the dungeon.

The treasure was the Golden Claw....

Maybe they were using the golden claw to find treasure? Anyways, we didn't see al the teasure in the Dragonpirests room.

You didn't see the entire dungeon. Just a small portion.

As other have said, we have no idea what there may have been that was not shown. He never looted that Dragon priest, or any other bodies. Heck, he only opened one chest and looted one body. Also, I can almost guarantee that the loot he did pick up was placed specifically for the demo.

There were alot of cuts in the demo video and they only showed opening one chest. There were at least 2 near the dragon priest that they never checked out in the video.

the bandits wanted the golden claw. Thats why arvel the swift had it, he most likely found it but it was being protected by the spider and he got stuck in the web.

^ the bandits where after the claw, and then that one dude arvel the swift got caught by the spider when he found the claw. After him there is not anything but Draugr, the ice troll and the nether lich thing. So i'm guessing the bandits had only explored the first part of the dungeon

the golden claw, do it have any value? becouse the main treasure is the dragon word, since you need the claw to open the door wich leads to the dragon shout/word`?

He actually opens two chests, they cut past the second one. It's in the room where he Slows Time, in it he finds the Fireball Spell. But he does avoid a lot of passages if you keep your eyes peeled.

Maybe The Bandits were only there for a home base?

or maybe the bandits thought there could be a treasure because the area was protected by a dragon

A giant hunk of gold should have a lot of value.
