AMR (GRA) suppessor/silencer does not work

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2011 10:20 pm

i was hoping the AMR with silencer would be the ultimate sniper tool, but it doesn't work. i am so sad, words fail.
though the explosive .50 ammo is sweet, even the regular .50 ammo makes a bang big enough to alert everyone in the area.
i am thoroughly disappointed with this particular mod. :(

It's not supposed to make it silent, it's a [censored] .50bmg.

okay, it's a big cal munition. so then, what's the [censored] point of having s suppressor then? pointless.

Are you trying it with the explosive ammo or the regular ammo?

No, trust me, it works, if you listen to the before and after of that weapon, it's whisper quite. It's a .50 cal dude, It's like putting a suppressor on a tiger tank. The AI still treat it as a silenced weapon.

Then whats the point of having a silencer/Suppressor? Wasting caps?

Tell me ONE advantage of the suppressor on the AMR?

The loud sound was the best thing about the weapon. And they want us to suppress it but NOT make it silent? [censored] smart.

i've tried it with both types of ammo. explosive killed everyone in a 4 foot radius. regular .50 cal woke everyone to my presence instantly with the big bang.
maybe it's my pc...i don't know. but i'm seriously disappointed. never had that prob with regular silenced sniper rifles.
that legion camp was a great place to off legionaires for loot to buy add-ons. (the Booted Quest)
i went there with my silenced AMR and the whole place lit up after the 1st shot. bummer.

Weapons in F:NV have three noise levels: Loud, Normal, and Silent. Loud is a large radius and will alert folks at long range. This is what the AMR normally uses. With the suppressor, the noise level is reduced to Normal. This is a smaller radius.

Most snipers operate from a long range, if you camp out at a distance and use non-explosive ammo you should be fine.

Sawyer said it.

To make the AMR "silent", you'd need a big old can on the end (which you would have to maintain regularly), and load subsonic ammunition for it, which will cut down on power by a lot (something I think was missing from Vegas, as it would have made sniping from concealment a harder affair as you'd need a head shot with any silenced weapon to kill without noise. .223 would effectively be .22LR, .308 would effectively be .38 Special, and so on and so forth).

I hope for the day when you get that full of water feeling in your ears and the loud ringing after discharging a firearm in a game, with said fullness (deafness) slowly residing over hours, and where even a lowly .22LR will ruin your game (disability and a doc stay needed). Probably doesn't sound fun to most, but it's never been done before.

I have tested it and it works. To remain hidden it needs to be long distance shot but no where near as long for an unsuppressed ant-material rifle. And instead of the entire pack of ghouls from the nuclear test sight swarming up at me they had no idea where I was and it remained in caution mode giving me time to kill a few more ghouls then back away and reenter hidden.
