Dont MODS just ruin the game?

Post » Thu Sep 29, 2011 11:42 am

Experienced players tend to use mods to -increase- difficulty overall, not lower it, this being said. I'm not sure what made you believe otherwise.

Oblivion + FCOM kicks my ass regularly. I cannot say the same for Vanilla.

We ARE fairly protective of our mods Ill give you that ,but its because they make the game so much better.

In fact, I wouldnt have given TES a second look if it wasnt for the moddability. The base games are okay, but nothing to write home about. I could NEVER tolerate vanilla Morrowind or Oblivion, and Ill play unmodded Skyrim exactly once, and solely as an opportunity to jot down all the stuff that needs to be fixed.

Also, it takes me 10-15 hours of research, downloading, installing, testing and all that to get a decent "modded install" to run stably with my usual 150-200 mods, so it sure as hell aint to make sure the game's easier. Its to make it longer and more perfect. And GORGEOUS.

...Then just download mods that you LIKE. No one's forcing you to download every mod that's released. Be selective. I only download mods that are lore-friendly and that enhance the vanilla game and add to the experience.

Mods don't ruin the game, they make it even better.

You just won the thread. :cookie:

You moron, mods can completely enhance the experience for you, and how is it cheating? So how about you shut your mouth and consider your words before making a fool of yourself, alright? Lovely.

No need to be rude, folks. He's never had a chance to play with mods before, so he doesn't really know what they're like. With a little explanation, now he knows more. No need to be rude to help enlighten someone.

I agree, those are pro mod should calm down, you are not helping, I love my mods and one of the best ways to pass them on is to educate others on the different types.

One of my http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33003, adds a great deal to the game without any cheats involved, or how about http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16544, the keyword in there is "Enhanced" as a lot of mods do for games.

What your post describes is not even a mod. It's a console command. Open console, type movetoqt and you're there instantly. That's not a mod, that's just using the in-game command line to cheat.

There are literally tens of thousands of mods, both big and small. Very few of those mods give you God-powers but the point is you select what mods you want. Just head over to Nexus and browse them to see for yourself. I think you will quickly agree that the mods you are talking about are not the only selection, in fact they are well the minority. Overpowered items are a lot more common, but the most part new items are balanced via cost if nothing else. You might come across a sword with 100 attack, but find that it costs half a million gold to buy.

There is a mod for it, in the editor is an option "Fast travel from this location not allowed"; it's normal use is for internal cells such as dwelling and dungeons, the mod re-enables the fast travel.

I'm playing vanilla and i'll be playing just as long as you, if not more.

Shall I re-phrase? How ever long you end up playing Skyrim you will be replaying the same content, yet ours will be endless.

Moved to CD as this topic is not about Skyrim specifically.

I'd like to remind everyone that calling other members trolls is considered flaming and results in a warning and suspension from the forum.

I don't know about the others but all I was tryng to accomplish here is let the OP know they aren't just for making God and Cheat Mods. There are alot of them out there that are great and add hours upon hours of gameplay to the games and that is why I personally love the CS. I know there are too many of the modders and hardcoes out there that get butthurt way to fast over their precious games. Next they will start rioting like the sports fans because a game company won't make the game they want....LOL Imagine that one in the news.......
