Don't know if it's old, just noticed it today.
For those who don't want to buy on Steam, where we had problems with some mods in Oblivion and Morrowind, and probably will occur with Skyrim. (and it's more expensive).

Hope it helps.

People really need to know about this since the only thing Bethesda said was the game is a Steamworks game without saying that it's also being distributed on sites such as Direct2Drive. I hate to see so many people upset about the whole Steamworks thing and Direct2Drive games usually do not require Steam unless they say something like they require third-party software to be installed. A good example is that F.E.A.R. 2 was a Steamworks game if bought on disc from a store, but there's the Direct2Drive version of the game that does not require Steam at all(http://www.direct2drive.com/7554/product/Buy-F.E.A.R.-2-Project-Origin-Download). Bethesda announced a while back that Rage will be a Steamworks game, but it's also on Direct2Drive just like Skyrim(http://www.direct2drive.com/10731/product/Buy-Rage-Anarchy-Edition-Download). I'm sure that it would say Rage requires third-party software by now, but it doesn't. Personally, I like Steam. Most of the games I own are on it. Other people just prefer not to use it so I hope this will be a good solution for them. I don't know about people in other parts of the world, but Direct2Drive clearly says "This product is available for purchase in the United States and Canada only." Maybe there's some other digital retailer selling the game to other parts. :)
