Combat, do you want to tweak it?

Post » Fri Sep 30, 2011 7:42 pm

Questions say all. I simply want to know it, because I personally prefer Oblivion′s style to cast the spells(A bit tweaked), and also want to use the staffs to block and cast spells.

And no blocking while dual wielding seems an excuse to me because of the lack of buttons.

I am rather happy about the new combat system. About the lack of blocking while not having a 2-handed or shield(btw can we block if we have a single 1-handed weapon that is not parred with anything?) I think it is for balancing the game. If dual-wielding weapons give the best melee dps why should it give bonuses to defence as well? I am ratehr neutral, but that is how I see it.

To make it even, it's fair to have dual-wielding not being able to block, I love the new Skyrim spells and I only want a staff to cast.

If you held a staff against a battleaxe, there's no way it would stay in one piece, much like if you held a dagger up against a warhammer.

I'd like dual wield blocking to be balanced by just making it prevent a lesser percentage of the damage. I don't mind not blocking while sword+magicking, because it makes sense to need both hands on your 1h weapon to block an incoming blow.

I'd like to be able to cast, melee and block with a staff.

We have yet to play it. Something that sounds good or bad on paper can be very different in play, especially when it is subjective.

Your primary grip seems to be the reduction in combat buttons. It was attack, block and magic. Now you can only choose two of three at any one time. There is however one consolation for you. Shouts and racial powers are still it's own button, effectively replacing magic.

2-handed staff combat and kicks would be nice additions for those people who like to role-play as a fighting Monk.

1). No. Balanced as it.

2.) I'd prefer Oblivion's style, but I have no qualms with Skyrim's

3.) I'd like to see combat staves, but again not a big deal at all

Not wanting to block while dual-wielding...I really don't get this state of mind.

Not for balancing purposes, as there are many other ways for balancing and as for the sake of realism/logic

I think the controls are tap LT, tap RT, hold LT, hold LT then tap RT, tap LT&RT, shout. I am willing to give this scheme a try and see how it works.

OT I wonder what happens if you do LT&RT together with a staff.

I personally love the new updates on skyrim, I haven't heard of one change they have made that has been a bad on in my opinion. However, I would change a few things, but I don't make the game and even if I were to make the game you can never make one everyone will like. Bethesda has done a splindid job of making each game better than the last though, and I think that is all that matters.

Only if its in the right hand. If the 1-H is in the left, the right will punch.

All three of these things have to be fixed.

Thank God for mods...

How would you know what to tweak and how to tweak if you haven't even tried it?
