We need some basic mods

Post » Sat Oct 01, 2011 4:15 am

So Bethesda is Simplifying the game. Right. I won′t complain. It doesn′t really bother me, because it′s going to be a good game, just like every TES, it still has lots of awesome features, and a great modding community.

But there′s a lot of people who don′t want those stupid things like quest markers, quest symbols over NPC′s, or fast travel, and want weapons to degrade.

So I think we need a modular mod for the first week of game to basically have the possibility to remove one or more of this dumb features.

I don′t know how to mod myself, I am planing to learn to mod the game, but I need time..

Thank you.

Quest Markers are toggleable! :D Also, Morrowind style fast travel is in.

Anyway, I'm going to have a playthrough first, because I'm not sure if any of those things will get to me enough that I'll need to download mods.

So are the things above the npc's head. And you don't HAVE to use fast travel. So, weve pretty much got your list covered except for the weapon degrading thing

Several options for quest markers, HUD opacity gets rid of my pet hate, POI markers. Carriages to towns as an alternative to map fast travel. Don't see the problem.

So edit it out of your OP, Also, they aren't simplifying the game. They are taking out features to bring in better ones, They have normal fast travel, and they have Morrowind fast travel, So they are trying to appeal to everyone, So edit your OP Again.

Blocking while dual wielding and holding a spell in one hand. That's a basic functionality which isn't in only because the stupid xbox controller doesn't have enough buttons. I'm getting the game some time after the release so I hope it will be fixed by then.

And also the nonsensical companion limit of... 1. But that I can hopefully fix myself with the CK.

I also want epic quests mod in the first week, mods that add new enemies, new weapon types and flying mounts.

These sound more simple than modding in blocking...

You can change things with mods, and that's a good thing,it really is. But,i think when people say they will mod this and mod that without really trying it first,it is ignorance. Also you say " these dumb features" Which have been confirmed as toggles, again shows ignorance.

...

on topic:
- Remove compass. I know quest markers are toggleable, but location indicators aren't. I don't want to know that there's a cave 400 meters east I haven't discovered yet.
- Scale jump height with stamina. A full acrobatics mod would take much longer, but this could probably be done within the first week.
- Darker nights. Maybe. Some nighttime screens seemed darker than Oblivion, others were still way too bright.

I'm fine with POIs that you've already discovered, but I'll probably go into the game files and screw with the alpha transparency for undiscovered ones so that they simply can't be seen on the HUD.

What really excites me is all the possibilities that the new character creation system allows for. Simple color tweaks of existing skin textures will provide a wealth of custom options for Argonians, and the skin pattern stuff means leopard spots for Khajiit (or Argonians, if you want to play a leopard gecko) and custom tattoos on every character that don't mess with the skins of all the other races. There will be stuff out pretty quickly, and thankfully it won't just be the same 40 anime/Korean MMO hairs we saw in Oblivion and ported over to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. God, those were all terrible.
