How will ward spells compare to a trusty shield?

Post » Sat Oct 01, 2011 8:11 am

I know that wards from melee attacks appear as a shield around the user and absorbs damage, but will magic wards have to be cast at a particular time and will they just negate the spell, or will that be the baisc ward and then others will give a chance of absorbing or deflecting the spell it would be a better absorb and reflect system. And maybe the same with melee wards the reflecting i mean.
shields absorb some damage are wards alot better than shields then?

Ward spell is for magical defense.
Shield spell (if it exists) is for physical defense.

Ward is Restoration
Shield is Alteration

Also reflect and absorb (if they exists) are separate from ward.

Magic Shield vs Mundane Shield - Which is better?

I'm not sure how the purple shield bubbles that have been described work. I think it would be interesting if you had to hold the button down to keep it up, causing a slow drain on mana. That way you could use timing with your other hand to use whatever you have over there.

Really though, we don't know exactly what these shields do.

They could absorb. They could reflect. They could reduce.

They may stop magic. They may stop weapons.

Hopefully we find out about this soon because I am really curious as well.
