As in The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind? Nope, it's still there. In a CD Case on my little table-on-a-desk.

4E ?? — Red Mountain erupts; Vvardenfell is destroyed.

  • In Vivec's absence, the Ministry of Truth becomes unstable. Vuhon creates an Ingenium that uses at first dozens of dying souls, then a small number of living ones to stabilize the rock. The soul of Sul's wife Ilzheven was among them. In a fight to free her, the Ingenium is destroyed and the rock crashes into the city of Vivec with all the energy it originally had. The impact causes Red Mountain to erupt and destroys the entire island of Vvardenfell, as well as causing massive destruction to the rest of the province.

In the lore of the last 200 years between Oblivion and Skyrim, Red Mountain Blew its top and destroyed Vvardenfell. Just a hunch but I suspect Dagoth Ur wasn't too happy being defeated by the Neravarine.........

Spoiler
After Tribunal vanished, the Ministry of Truth which was frozen in the air just over Vivec city, hit the city, destroyed it, made the Red Mountain volcano explode and cover Vvardenfell with ash. Events form The Infernal City novel

The island of Vvardenfell was destroyed in the time between Oblivion and Skyrim.
I'd go into detail and find you the sources OP, but I'm too lazy.

All the info is derived from the official Elder Scrolls novel "The Infernal City".
