Build your own, its easy, ask a good forum.for what parts amd give ehat your needs are and a price range. Its like legos, its easy. While ur at it build a hackintosh, and have the best of both (like me:)).

I am a PC noob. I have used macs for years because I am into audio production, and for me, the mac is where its at in that department. They do, however, svck bawls for gaming. It isn't that they are not capable, it is that not nearly as much software is developed for them in the game world.

Anyway, I want to play Skyrim (and Morrowind) on the PC so I can use mods - after a vanilla playthrough of course.

What do you think? I don't have a ton of money, so I am going to stay away form the Alienware stufff, and I have a feeling something can be purchased elsewhere or built for much cheaper. I live in Canada if that has any relevance. I would really appreciate any help you guys could give. Unfortunately, I am the only one out of my friends who cares about PC gaming, so I don't really have anywhere to turn but the interwebs.

Another good option for "What PC should I get/build and where from" is the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1233177-the-community-tech-thread-no-107/. Just be aware that they're very big fans of the "oh, you can just build it yourself, cheaper!" view.

(I built a gaming PC to go along with my Mac recently, with advice from that thread. It works, and it was a Learning Experience?, but I'll probably stick with buying pre-mades when I need to replace it.... the extra cash is worth it for the lower stress + knowing that a pro worked out the kinks. :shrug:)

Can any of you guys tell me that if my ram usage is very high will my game crash? I really think I need more ram.

Probably. Firefox on my machine sometimes uses a ton of memory if I've got a number of memory intensive pages open...like if I'm power browsing YouTube and Adobe Flash is misbehaving as usual. It causes Firefox to bloat up, and above 2.5GB RAM is gets unstable, at around 3GB RAM it becomes unresponsive or crashes. (They seem to have fixed the problem in Firefox 7.) But more to the point, if that application becomes unstable at 2.5 even though there is still about 20 or so GB of free memory...I'm sure if the Skyrim executable starts eating up memory like crazy, it'll become unstable and crash. Oblivion does that to me sometimes.

Fans? Heh, you mean fanatics.

Although, I guess that happens all over the board. If you say you didn't build your own machine because you didn't feel like it you get called an idiot for wasting money. If you then mention the reasons why you don't want to deal with the hassle of building a machine and maintenance for broken parts, etc., then you're still an idiot, because dealing with that stuff is so fun. And so on and so on. Not to mention, before my current machine, I built all my machines probably since before some of these little punks were just some spunk hangin' around in their daddy's family jewels, so I have more than plenty right to say I don't feel like building another one.
