"early 2012" - Since they don't say which financial quarter couldn't that mean any time in the first half of the year? I think the majority of Skyrim sales will already have happened, maybe it will rival the DLC sales.

there are rumors that ppl who own the liscence for Game of Thrones asked beth do make this game, some say they were contemplating it since skyrim already had a westerosy feel. However they turned it down. again rumors. This company doesnt have a very good track record to be honest. however as a fan of the series i would try the demo or something. keep in mind that maybe yesterday a game of thrones game came out that is an rts.

long story short, theres no way in hell this will rival something coming out of bethesda. itl probably be another mediocre rpg, like the few that have come out recently.

It's the same kind of theme (fantasy) and also called an RPG, but that doesn't mean it will be a genuine rival. I expect it to be way more linear and has less content than any TES game... But I'd say that about any other game.

If it's being developed like Mass Effect, it sounds more like a rival for Dragon Age than it does for TES. They'd be the same style of game.

I do wish that another dev studio would create a medieval fantasy open-world RPG, though. The last thing anyone wants in gaming are developers resting on their laurels and not pushing the envelope, and that's typically what happens when there's no healthy competition. Just look at EA Sports as one example.

I think the RTS will be fine, but the RPG is where I'd be worried. Even for a company as skilled at making large, expansive games like Bethesda, it'd be a challenge to capture all the political intrigue, drastically different cultures and places. Game Of Thrones is one of those game they'd have to take a lot of time with and make sure everything was done well and correctly. Otherwise, they'd be getting reamed on all sides by all fans.

EDIT: I'd really like to be able to make my own character instead of just playing some set character, or at the very least be able to create the face and choose the gender of my character like in Mass Effect or Dragon Age 2.

I'm more concerned about the lack of FPSports Titles.

Guess that's Activision's Market.
