How do you deal with addiction?

Okay, after years of sitting on my [censored] laptop I got a new PC. Started playing Oblivion.

"Meh, have difficulty getting into it."
Play more, like more, play more, install mods, play more, "My god, I think I love this game!"
So far so good. BUT: I am a student at a university and as such I have other things to do. Things like homework.

So: I LOVE playing Oblivion.
And: I am only kinda interested in the stuff I am studying.

Bottomline is that I played the last days almost exclusively. Well, I ate something and slept when I was tired, but that's it. Sounds horrible, but I had loads of fun.

What do? I see myself almost as an alcoholic who is happiest when drunk. Meanwhile being drunk destroys his life.

I have the same problem. There's this one class on thursday afternoons I really hate. Needless to say it was a struggle to get there this week what with me having the anniversary edition to play on.
I find it helps if you set yourself some structure, and maybe use gaming as a reward for doing this piece of work. For example, I have nothing going on tomorrow, so I know I'd just sit gaming all day, but I've decided that if I can get all my work done for next week then I can spend the rest of the afternoon playing Oblivion. It stops me feeling so guilty too.

You just have to have a little control.

Had the same problem when I was a noob at this game too. Still play and enjoy it, not at the same level as then though.
