two hypotheticals

Post » Mon Oct 03, 2011 1:54 am

I'm just throwing ideas around, but what if the other continents of Nirn (Aldmeris, Atmora, Akavir, Yokuda) are just parts of Tamriel from a previous kalpa, or something crazy like that? The idea of the races of this kalpa transplanting themselves from the previous kalpa is interesting to me. Like when the previous "world" was dying, they hopped over to the new "world".

The other hypothetical question I had was: What would happen if, for some reason, the moons were taken out of their place and role. Say Lorkhan came back now that his heart has been freed and recovering for a while( this is just as an example, I'm not sure something like this would happen) and reclaimed his body/flesh divinity. The implications I can think of are:

1. No more lunar lattice. Khajiit are no longer born? Or would they start giving birth to Bosmer or something?
2. No more moon sugar?
3. Necromancer's moon??

I know I'm new to the board, but I've been around here for a while without signing up as a member and I've been reading and loving the lore for years. Just a couple of crazy ideas I thought might be interesting.

Well at one point, way back when, the land was all connected in either a pangaea or an ocean-less world. The war between the ancestors of Mer (the Ehlnofey) and Men (the wandering Ehlnofey) is what caused the land to separate and submerge a lot of the surface of Nirn below the oceans. I think it is safe to assume that the men/mer "evolved" from their common ancestor.

I haven't read the novel, Lord of Souls, yet, but I think I read someone mentioning that there is mention of the Hist possibly coming from another realm of some kind.

And there is of course the Leaper Demon King (MD) that has been "saving" portions of previous kalpas as the wheel has been turning. I'm not sure what/where in Nirn those portions are, but until MD can become the LDK again, he has to destroy them. And I guess by destroying the towers he is trying to be more efficient (work smarter, not harder?)

I'm kind of interested in what other people have to say on this topic as well :foodndrink:

Ah, thank you. I had forgotten all about that. Given the nature of TES for everything to branch off repeatedly into fractals, it does make more sense for that to be the case with the races and continents as well.

I do find the kalpa idea both interesting and confusing. Makes me wonder what a kalpa without Dagon in his current form and the pieces he's thrown in would be like. That's the part I'm confused about...isn't a kalpa part of a pattern? So does that mean that, say, the Nerevarine exists in each kalpa and does the same thing?

I should probably stop posting more questions. lol

I actually asked not too long ago, how many kalpas MD has been around, and I guess the current kalpa happens to be the first. I'm not sure how "special" that makes the current times, but it seems like quite a wild card IMO.

I'm not sure how much we can say the current kalpa resembles the previous ones, MD certainly makes his presence known :P

And you know, that whole thing about stepping on a butterfly (or should I say ancestor moth) might cause a hurricane on the other side of the world. . . I wonder how many bugs MD has stepped on. . . being the Daedra Prince of natural destruction and whatnot.

EDIT: And sorry 'bout ignoring the 2nd part of the OP, I just have less to say and know less about that :P

That is true. He would have huge effects on the universe just by being what he is. I suppose the whole destiny/pattern idea is out of the picture completely. I would think this would imply that before he was Mehrunes Dagon, there was little to no destruction or revolution in the universe. Then again, maybe Alduin himself had that sphere covered in previous kalpas.

haha don't worry about ignoring that part. Like I said, I'm just throwing ideas out there. I'm not even sure if there is much to say about the second.
